The fact that Michael Schiavo has turned down this bribe along with the bribes of his in-laws, and has steadfastly stood for his wife's wishes to not be kept alive by artificial means for all the years is commendable and illustrates the sincereity of his commitment to her.

What is entirely shameful is that a millionaire could think he could buy off Schiavo or any other spouse and so interefer in the sanctity of another's marriage.

The act of bribery is reprehensible and that anyone could support such immoral tactics unconscionable.

The California business man is indeed a rotten little worm.

Two things strike me here:

!). Prior to this I had a sneaking suspicion that Mike Shaivo was wanting the life insurance money upon his wife's death. I think the California businessman offered him more than the insurance would pay, so perhaps he is sincere in his belief.... HOWEVER

2). It is CLEAR that Terry Shaivo is NOT in a 'constant, vegetative state.' She responds to people--especially her parents--she can blink 'once for yes, twice for no.' She evidently smiles, and makes other facial expression not explainable as mere 'tics' and reflex actions. Perhaps, homebild, you were unaware of these things?

Given this, it seems to me that no matter how sincere the beliefs of those who wish to kill Terry Shaivo, and in absence of a statement from her, it is best to err on the side of her life.

Unconscious & severely damaged people have certainly been restored to normal and near-normal stages of life. Whatever, the heinous euthanasia element which kills "vegetative" folk now will later request the right to kill individuals less-severely damaged. Then, later again, why not very elderly folk who require assistance for living? And don't stop there: why not a law down the road to eliminate people who politically disagree with you and would urge a return to moral sanity in politics?

Abortion kills at the beginning of the life cycle; euthanasia at the ending of it. Somebody always wanting to play God with somebody else. Why all the constant KILL, KILL, KILL that permeates the pro-abortion and pro-euthanasia groups? Why not promote ADOPTION, not abortion re the former, and more effective PALLIATIVE CARE for the latter. Goodness knows we don't want to end up as another Holland or Belgium or even Sweden!!

No one has the "right" to murder an innocent person. Women do not have "rights" to kill another human being of the very same genre as themselves. And our would-be "Dr. Kevorkians" don't possess the "right" to murder someone who requests such. Lest we forget - and we always tend to - suicide is simply self-murder...and forbidden in the commandments, both Old & New Testaments. Let's try much harder to overcome the murdering putrescence that swirls out there! AMEN!

I have said it before, I would NOT want to be kept alive like she is in her state. Those who say that through therapy she can be returned to normal do not understand the human brain. Once damaged like hers is there is no turning back. The only one who can restore her to what she was before the God. I don't know His will for this womans life, but for me I would home someone would love me enough to let me go. I suspect that her husband wants the money too but again we don't know his heart. As for the one who offered the money...well he is a rotten worm, I agree.

Very true. The definition of PVS (persistent vegetative state) in Florida Statue 765.101:

"Persistent vegetative state means a permanent and irreversible condition of unconsciousness in which there is:

(a) The absence of voluntary action or cognitive behavior of ANY kind.

(b) An inability to communicate or interact purposefully with the environment."

Terri's behavior does not meet the medical or statutory definition of persistent vegetative state. Terri responds to stimuli, tries to communicate verbally, follows limited commands, laughs or cries in interaction with loved ones, physically distances herself from irritating or painful stimulation and watches loved ones as they move around her. None of these behaviors are simple reflexes and are, instead, voluntary and cognitive. Though Terri has limitations, she does interact purposefully with her environment.

Dr. Victor Gambone testified that he visits Terri 3 times a year. His visits last for approximately 10 minutes. He also testified, after viewing the court videotapes at Terri

God can and does change things that man can not and this woman is not dead. She responds and is alive.

I get so fed up with people defending Michael. Budman is correct - the GUY IS A WORM!

Money is still behind this, and the guy is holding out for more, plus the insurance policy. If he divorces, he gets zilch.
