Eve ate first.  Sin entered her life.  She no longer held that sinless position in the eyes of God.  Adam who was still in his perfect state would have known that Eve had fallen.

Eph writes...

Well one mistake already...What do you gather from the account in GEN that would lead you to draw such a conclusion QRR..?? What do you base this thoery on to say Adam would have known Eve had fallen..? Again QRR "asumptions" that we can make reading Gods word..shouldn't be then taken as FACTUAL...!

QRR asks..

Why would Adam eat of the tree when Eve offered?  His love for her was such as God had for us, and he thought he could sacrifice himself for her.  Not being God, he did not have such power as Christ did by laying down His glory for us.

Eph writes..

Hmm...Here would be a good place to ask what "bible" you use in study or read from..that allows you to make such statements..as IF their factual..!

QRR writes...

I believe this to be correct, but there are several flaws here.  Good luck - I'll check back later.

Eph replies...

IF you agree there are flaws in your post..why would you attest to this post being "correct"...??

RE-Check your bible..then return..would be my best advice !

:)

Eph, thank you for your challenge - I take it in the spirit of love that you intend

Eve had not fallen yet, and her response to the serpent is, "God has said, 'You shall not eat from it OR TOUCH IT, lest you die.'"

I have often thought of a different scenario altogether. Was  Adam maybe jealous? It is possible that Adam ate knowing full well the results. While Eve was deceived, maybe Adam's fall was intentional, calculating.

That would indicate sin before he ate - I don't think so.

Adam did not disobey God before he ate of the tree.  Some have thought Eve did by lusting after the fruit, but the sin was to eat of the fruit of that tree.

If Adam had been present, he would have told Eve that she was not even to touch it - Adam was not some slug of a husband without sense - he had named all the animals and was on a personal relationship with the Almighty.

Eve was tricked, and Adam's bone of his bones and flesh of his flesh was in the throes of sin.  He was in the image of God and had His very nature of goodness - Adam wanted to rescue His wife, and the only holy way is for a sinless sacrifice.  Adam, not being God, could not fulfill the role as he had not yet attained (nor could he ever attain) to the position that the Son of God had.

So sin happened when they decided to eat the fruit not as they ate the fruit or after? I think this is your position in a nutshell Yes/No?

Well I cannot differ from this interpretation it seems correct to me.

I just read a great book called "First Comes Love" by Scott Hahn where he speaks on the Adam and Eve story. I encourage you all to read it. The first half or so isn't even really "Catholic", its a look at scripture without any reference to Catholic teaching. Its quite interesting and gave me a new view of Adam and Eve. Quickly, I'll sum up the best I can, but I encourage you all to read the book in case I didn't get something quite right.

Here's the first Chapter... follow this Barnes and Noble link:

http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksea....excerpt

I've changed my mind. I was going to sum up my understanding, but I'm afraid to screw it up...

Final Test...

When did Adam sin?

When did Eve sin?

If you say they sinned upon eating of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, then did they recognize good and evil at that time?

Were they at that point followers of evil - sons of the devil?

Were they at that point in need of a Savior to do good?

Were they liars?

Were they murderers?

Does it matter for their eternal security?

Did God know?

Did God believe Adam's response in Genesis 3:12?

Answer these questions with some sort of proof - don't embellish your response with printing out the entire verses or dictionary answers - we are all on the internet and can do the same.

You will be graded.

The bible says that the eyes of THEM BOTH were opened (GEN 3:7).

It never said that Eves eyes were opened first then Adams later!

She ate and also gave some to Adam... It happened at the same time!

I stay with this!

As EPH wrote earlier...Read Gen 3:6-7...

Warrior:

I ask this lovingly:

Do you then disagree with Jesus that sin is conceived and therefore is sin in the heart before the physical act?

God Bless.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
