If you Read a Prayer to Allah

My parents were missionaries for many years in Indonesia and one of our biggest regrets was that the Indonesian Bible uses the word Allah for God. It does cause much confusion. If only we would teach the Muslims who come to Christ to refer to GOd as YHWH , God, or Jehavah God instead of Allah.

IslandRose that is exactly what I was talking about...we have been seening many people converted in the Middle East and just had a large convention of Believers in Jordan...but they all call G-d Allah and have not been taught otherwise...how did your parents feel about this in retrospect?

I can see that when the West hear about this they will attack it from a very Western mindset that defines Allah as one of a number of idols worshipped by pagan pre-Islamic Arab tribesmen and see it as weakening the Gospel and causing confusion and error....How important is it?

I do not think that just reading a prayer is wrong, I think that actually reading it and meaning it is wrong...if a person was to have to study another religion's characteristics, and do a detailed study on another "god", then I don't think it would be wrong for them to study a prayer that is not to God.....so long as they don't actually take it seriously.

Just my thoughts...
