Progressive Christians say a TV advertisement opposing same-sex marriage is "fear-mongering", "irresponsible" and "wrong".

Australian Christians for Marriage Equality on Wednesday launched a national campaign encouraging people to vote Yes in the federal government's planned postal survey on gay marriage.

They said a Coalition for Marriage ad released overnight didn't represent the views of most Christians.

"To put out an ad that links same-sex marriage with the safe schools program is ... an admission of failure," Anglican Reverend Dr Keith Mascord told reporters in Sydney.

"It's not looking at the substance of the debate but fear-mongering. It's irresponsible and wrong and we abhor it.

"God wants all people to thrive and that's what we want and that's why we support marriage equality."

The TV ad features three mothers highlighting their concerns about how same-sex marriage would affect what is taught and promoted in schools.

One mother says "the school told my son he could wear a dress next year if he felt like it".

The Anglican Dean of Brisbane, Dr Peter Catt, says religious freedom and gender identity are issues that are muddying what should be a simple debate.

"Gender debates in schools and all those other issues are simply being introduced to muddy the water," he told reporters in Brisbane.

"This is a very simple concept that we extend the Marriage Act so that it applies equally to all persons."

Australian Christians for Marriage Equality representative Benjamin Oh said the ad was hurtful to those who identified as part of the LGBTI community.

"It is very sad that kind of messaging is going out, I know it hurts families, I come from a devout Catholic family ... and I know they hurt with me," he told reporters on Wednesday.

"They are powerful people with lots of money to spend on these big flashy advertisements, we don't have that, but we have the people with us, the people of God, Christians voting Yes."

They call themselves Christians?

They can call themselves what they want. A servant seeks the will of his Lord and obey Him, if said servant work against his Lord then maybe he's not a servant, but an enemy.

"You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?" - Matthew 7:16

The Lord Jesus warned us about many false prophets that would rise and deceive many. We as Christians must seek to live according to His Word, and reject anything that goes against it.

"Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.
And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold." - Matthew 24:11-12

"If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin." - 1 John 1:6-7

I saw something on TV today, from a very popular channel in my country... It was about promoting transgender's choice, by making it look good and that people can really be born in the wrong body. With that kind of advertisement and brain washing, soon society will treat it like a normal thing and will hate anyone that says something against such practice.

They will say we hate them because we do not agree with their practices.

Makes me sick to my stomach thinking where will it all end. God did warn us that it would become so bad;

Jude 1:7,Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Legalise same-sex marriage for 'common good': Catholic priest

Same-sex marriage should be legalised for the "common good", one of Australia's leading Catholic thinkers has urged, arguing civil marriage cannot be seen as an instrument of the church.

In a marked departure from other Catholic leaders and many Coalition conservatives, Jesuit priest Frank Brennan said any concerns about religious freedom should be set aside until after a successful "yes" vote in the postal survey.

And he turned opponents' fears on their head, saying the increasing prevalence of same-sex couples with children was an argument in favour of marriage equality, not an argument against.

"We've got to factor that in to the common good argument about what's necessary," Father Brennan told Sky News on Friday, following his delivery of the Lionel Bowen Lecture this week in which he declared he would vote "yes".

The legalisation of same-sex marriage in like-minded countries such as Britain and New Zealand was also a reason to support change, he said, to provide consistency for couples who moved around the world.

This I agree with 100%.  It would serve the body of Christ well to disavow themselves from civil marriages and all that is attached to them and get back to focusing on God's purpose of marriage.   Biblical marriage has little to do with the perks and benefits assigned to marriage by civil governments.

Biblical marriage is not about tax brackets or Social Security benefits or even hospital visitation.

Lots of false believers out there, that is for sure.  Especially these people in the OP.

In time "common good"could be stretched to cover anything.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
