Hi Emmet. (Did you know emmet means truth in hebrew  )

You know when a person becomes a Christian both good and bad things still happen to us...it is no guarantee for a trouble free life...in fact for many that is when the real troubles start especially if you have to make a stand for your faith...but we in the West have it relatively easy on the suffering front compared to some of our brethren in the Eastern countries.

The difference is that now a Christian has met with the King of Glory and been forgiven and has the hope of eternal life so that whatever happens they know G-d loves them even if some circumstances are too hard to work out with our natural understanding...hopefully we can learn to turn to G-d and trust Him at all times both good and bad...in living and also in dying.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Jam 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Jam 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Jam 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Jam 1:16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.

Jam 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Grace to you,

God has not made you to suffer.

I believe you may be confusing refinement for suffering.

Peter said it this way;

Good question. It's one I've asked myself many, many, many times. I think I've finally come to the conclusion that there are a number of reasons.

The first probably is that God will NEVER let you go once you are His. Once you become His child, He will hunt you down like a "maniac" would. Try to let go of Him, huh-uh, ain't going to happen. Try to push Him away. Nope. No matter what you do, you are His. There will be no disowning a child in this family.

But life is hard. We have come to God, and we expect Him to help us with our problems. He does, but not very often in the way we'd like. Is He really there? Does He really see? Is He really "on my side?" Sometimes we doubt. And doubting is okay. It really is, because eventually you will get back. You will know that He is there, He does see, and He truly is watching out for your best interest.

Why do you remain faithful to a God that has you suffer? Because that's the only thing you CAN do. But you will find that that, also, is the BEST thing you can do. Blessings to you, Emmetkeogan!

I was going to reply to this, but once again, Maniac, you've summed up what I would say.

I will add this though: Going through trials in our life can be for many reasons. One of them can be to bring us closer to Him and make us latch onto Him as our guide and protector. He wants us to depend on Him. Another reason could be for demonstration to those around us that know we are Christian. Can you imagine the impact on another person to see your faithfulness when your life is falling apart? (I'm not saying that's what's happening, just using it for an example). My youngest son got diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease (cancer) when he was 7. My friend and her daughter went to all the chemo treatments with my son and I. We used to sit in the hall or waiting area and talk and pray. I wasn't thinking about it then, but now that I look back on it, I'm sure it was a demonstration to someone.

Sometimes you never know, but your life is demonstrating to someone every day. Bottom line, like Maniac said, once you're His, you're His for good. He won't let you go. Try and hang onto Him even 1/4 of how He hangs onto you.

God does not MAKE us suffer, but sometimes he does allow it - be it for whatever reason - a test, or to make us stronger...etc.. think of the ultimate suffering - Christ taking on OUR sins, becuz he loves us and wanted to give us redemption. Does this make sense so far? :24:

Brother Emmet, that was going to be my question too. Not trying to be rude, just some of your phraseology seems a little out of the mainstream. You talk about your 'faith,' but just what do you have faith in?

In Christianity, what we mean by 'faith in Jesus' is that we believe His crucifixion was a sacrifice (the sinless God, sacrificing Himself for sinful man), for our sins. And that His Resurrection certifies the fact that by faith in his crucifixion, we are ALREADY GIVEN ETERNAL LIFE.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
