It should be pointed out that the apocryphal books are NOT inspired Scripture, however.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Hi There,

Ok I am now totaly confused by what you just said.

How do you say that they are not Inspired Scripture ?

Along that lines of questions would you also claim Esther to be not inspired since it was apparently the last book to be added to the Bible because it was in it's totality similar to a Folk Lore of that era.

Could you please care to explain in detail your assertion that the apocryphal books are not inspired ?

God Bless

I thought that I had heard that even the authors of the apocriphal books made it clear that their writings were not "inspired" but something like a comentary.  You know... like some use Strong's today... correct me if I'm wrong please!

I'm not sure about that. I have only read the first few chapters of "The First Book of Adam and Eve." It was so bizarre that I stopped reading.

Generally these books are considered to be "pseudepigrapha" (outside the accepted sacred texts) by Protestant denoms, and even were by Jewish scholars centuries ago. I have heard that none of them claim in and of themselves to be inspired, and certainly none of them are referred to as being inspired in the 66 books of the Bible that we have in modern translations (after the mid 1700s).

You know, it might also bear noting that Paul may have made reference to these texts in the following verses:

"But the profane and old-womanish myths refuse, and exercize yourself unto godliness" (1 Tim. 4:7)

"Nor give heed to myths and unending genealogies, which produce questionings rather than God's economy, which is in faith." (1 Tim. 1:4)

"Not paying attention to Jewish myths and the commandments of men who turn away from the truth." (Titus 1:14)

Here's Baker's Take on the word: http://bible.crosswalk.com/Dictionaries/Ba...cgi?number=T493

Whether Paul was talking specifically of the types of myths that the Helenists injected into the early church, or he was talking of the traditional Jewish myths considered extra-canonical, is up interpretation. But generally Paul's fellowship should be heeded when one talks about these sorts of issues. The Apocryphal books, for all intents and purposes, are myths, and should not be regarded as inspired Scripture. That is, they should not be given equal credence to the other 66 books of the Bible.

I once read the book of Adam and Eve in its entirety. There are many contradictions between that and the bible.

The so called lost books are not lost from the bible. They were not included in the bible for a good reason: They are not the word of God. If you read the apocrypha, please do not accept them as having the same weight as scripture. That kind of trap can lead to a falling away from the truth, if you are not spiritually well armed.

I am still undecided as to how much of the Apocrapha are inspired. I have noticed the repeating of other testimonies. I am so far enjoying the inspiring truths if have found so far. The Sextus is great for those seeking wisdom. Most of the sayings are wise but some really reach out and grab you.

346. Say with your mind that the body is the garment of your soul: keep it, therefore, pure since it is innocent.

371. The love of man is the beginning of godliness.

352/353. It is not a small danger for us to speak the truth about God; do not say anything aboutGod before you have learned from God.

http://www.iclnet.org/pub/resources/text/w...nberg-home.htmlI am really only just beginning my studies and find myself having to stoke the fires of passion for the word from time to time. I noticed myself giving in to selfish temptations and found myself backsliding into routines of distraction. I found myself, in a mire of self pitty, wanting only to detatch myself from my own life. When this passed Sunday I awoke to tuggings on my heart strings to go to church. That day was special indeed. We had a guest speaker from " the Voice of the Martyrs". He told us of societies where Christians are currently persecuted and even killed if they are caught worshipping Jesus. I then realized how weak my faith had become.

I hope you folks will take a moment to visit the VoM and read their testimonies and help where you are lead to. http://www.persecution.com/

My studies seem to be leading me around to this and that and this evening I am remined how much I would like to read the writings of Martin Luther. I feel foolish to entertain such ideas considering I have not even read the Bible in its entirety. I have spent many hours listening to my bible CDs during my household activities as well as while I sleep. I am compelled to follow my heart in these matters as it is the part of me most susceptible to the influence of the Holy Spirit.

If you have any advice to a fledgling follower i would be open to suggestions. As for my part I hope my links and interjections may be cause for stirrings in you that set free that light inside you.

As for Martin Luther I found a web site for those who wish to sample a reading or two.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
