So He was warning us to not put on a show that we are praying. When we pray at church or elsewhere, we are not doing it to be seen by others. We are simply joining together in prayer to God. That's good to explain why you are asking questions. The difference with our faith in Christ (Christianity) is this: with other religions a person tries to be good enough so they can earn their way to Heaven. But the problem is no one can be good enough to be in the presence of the absolutely holy God. We are sinners....this is why we all need the Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus paid the price for our sins on the cross so we can be reconciled with God. Jesus rose from the dead. He defeated sin, death and the devil. When we realize our sins and our need for the Savior Jesus Christ, and we confess our sins to God and ask for forgiveness.....then a miracle happens in our hearts/lives. Jesus called it being born again in the Gospel of John, chapter 3. God, the Holy Spirit, comes to dwell in our hearts....so we now also have a spiritual nature. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.
