Hi guys,

I could easily google this but thought I'd ask fellow Believers of Christ...

so, does anyone know what words or OT Scripture/Psalms Jesus and His disciples sang? I think it mentions Jesus singing twice in the NT...?

I'd love to know :)

Only Matthew 26:30 actually speaks of Jesus possibly "singing a hymn", but it tells nothing of what it might have been.

Thank you, so after they celebrated the Passover and the Memorial to Jesus (Last Supper). That's interesting!

I'll try to look further, obviously the hymn  would've had  words of OT scripture in it.

That scene of Jesus and His disciples singing just resonates with me and seems such  a joyous moment before darker trials ahead!

IIntersting, God Incarnate (John 1:1-17, Colossians 2:9, Titus 2:13, 2 Peter 1:1) sings s hymn. It probably was one of the psalms or song of Moses sung at Passover since that is when it says Jesus sang a hymn, “So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover. When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.” (Matthew 26:19, 30). Jesus and the disciples sang a hymn after He exposed Judas, revealed the New Covenant  of His sacrifice, instituted the Communion and then they left for Mount Olivet where at Gethsename Jesus was under great agony awaiting Judas and the troops to carry Him off the Caiphas and the Sanhedrin.

I may be wrong here, but many Jews of that time would have sung different Psalms depending on what the occasion was. Haven't looked into this in a long time, so your mileage may vary.

the Last Supper on the first night ofthe Passover, identify the meal as the Passover-meal and accordingly the hymn sung at it is the Halle! (Ps. 113-118)

Thanks for finding the Psalm. I made the case it was Psalm or song of Moses, but you’ve narrowed it down. :)

Yes, I’ve attended Completed (Jews who have become Christians) Passovers. In fact, you learn the cup Jesus took up and said “This is my blood of the New Covenant,” was the third cup of the Passover called “The Cup of Suffering.” The bread Jesus took up and said, “this is my body, is the third matza which has always been hidden and the children find it, symbolic that Jesus would be bites for three days and rise again.

What hymns did Jesus sing? Well you sure know it wasn't Amazing Grace! No need for him to sing that! ?
