Oy. I don't even have the time to read this lengthy article. Is there a summary somewhere?

He is implying that this is a parable and that if taken literally, opposes other scriptural references to heaven and hell or the saved and the damned.

Matthew 23

14 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayer: therefore you shall receive the greater damnation.

33 You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape the damnation of hell?

Mark 3

29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost has never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

Mark 12

40 Which devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.

Mark 16

16 He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned.

Luke 20

47 Which devour widows' houses, and for a show make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

John 5

29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, to the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, to the resurrection of damnation.

Romans 3

8 And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.

Romans 13

2 Whoever therefore resists the power, resists the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

Romans 14

23 And he that doubts is damned if he eat, because he eats not of faith: for whatever is not of faith is sin.

1 Corinthians 11

29 For he that eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

2 Thessalonians 2

12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

1 Timothy 5

12 Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.

2 Peter 2

1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privately shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.

3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingers not, and their damnation slumbers not.

What exactly is damnation?

What is salvation?

Luke 3: 6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

Brother Gerry,

A cursory examination of L. Ray Smith leads me to remove your link. Brother I would seriously examine what this man is saying.

One quick quote;

Death cannot prevent sinners from repenting

This man is denying hell. Basically calling it pergatory. He is also preaching Universalism. All souls are Saved after a period of chastisment. He denies that Eternity in hell is scriptural. He claims there is no time limit set for hell. Yet contradicts himself by saying it is a temporary chastisment. If there is no time limit set for hell in scripture as he claims? How has he drawn his conclussion that it is temporary?

Brother this man is a liar and I would steer clear of him. :24: We are to examine all claims against the very Word of God. If anyone preachs any other Gospel?

God Bless you Richly today my brother.

Peace,

Dave

I read the first few lines and found no reason to go any further, it sounds like the Christadelphia teachings of there is no hell.

I am not so sure that the story of Lazurus and the rich man is classified a parable, for it starts out as "There once was a rich man....."

Hell is real and so is the lake of fire, however they appear to be two different places, however both are places of torment:

Revelation 20:14

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Christ Himself makes referance to it, and calls it a fiery hell.

Matthew 5:22

"But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, ' [Or empty-head; Gr Raka (Raca) fr Aram reqa] You good-for-nothing,' shall be guilty before [Lit the Sanhedrin] the supreme court; and whoever says, 'You fool,' shall be guilty enough to go into the [Lit Gehenna of fire] fiery hell.

Matthew 18:9

" If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it from you It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than to have two eyes and be cast into the fiery hell.

This gives a description of those who will have their part in it.

Revelation 19:20

[ Doom of the Beast and False Prophet ] And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who Worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone.

Revelation 20:10

And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the  false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Revelation 20:15

And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Revelation 21:8

" But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

I would disregard evrything that this site is teaching, it is completely false and of the devil.

God says it is very real and we are to be very much in fear of it if we are not one of His.

In Jesus

Kevin

Jesus named Abraham and Lazarus. Did He ever name people in his parables? No. So why did He name these 2? My guess, my belief, is that this is a true story, not a parable.

Yes I believe in hell but what struck me was that he made some good points why this can't be literal :)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
