Well ya know I guess there was just such a moment for me after all. But it was the moment I realized others think of me as old.

I have shared the tale before about during a day  of supervising asphalt  repairing work having to redirect traffic getting onto the main highway from the Christian School ( where I had responsibility for the facilities) as parents were picking up their kids at the end  of the school day.

I was waving my arms pointing, right turn only today, turn right only please, and nodding to those I knew, when a young ball capped soccer mom in a mini van jumped out of her  vehicle, ran up, and grabbed onto me, saying "Sir, sir, you have to get out of the driveway you will get hurt out here. Where do you live  can I help you to walk back home?"

I got on a rowing machine for the first time today...…    I feel old and tomorrow morning I think I'll feel really old.

Augh rowing machines. They make everyone feel old.

Not like the music we had back in the 80's. Now that was real rock n roll.

80's, really?

Here I  thought it all ended in February 1959.

But I do think all the new music is not really music.  Not like the music we had back in the 80's.

It was the most fascinating decade the music industry ever had. I loved the new wave/alternative sound.

When you first realized you were old

When I couldn't believe how old all my friends looked :)

Probably back in the eighties when I didn't try to show my young kids how to use our first computer any more,
as they figured it out in a few days and were instructing  me. And I was only in my thirties..

It's like when you were  look forward to an exciting trip, looking forward to all the fun,
then (now) heading back home, looking back on the great times you had.
Used to look at the pictures of where to go for vacation.
Now looking at the pictures, of where we went.

As an older carpenter, still working my young crew of men building homes,
I realized I was declining going with them to after work activities more often.
My energy tank sprung an old age leak. Rest and refuel now.
"Too Soon Old, Too Late Smart"
Waking up with a sore back from the fan, eyes out of focus staring at the alarm clock,
feet reminding me there already starting to burn, sitting up, needing to hurry to the bath room
(now called the maintenance  room), and if I can just get to the light switch while my balance is trying to kick in, and thinking
while I stumble to get the lid down, "This is the best I'm gonna feel today"............  default_cool2.gif.68e456a21e62e49c8d7a0fa407fee600.gif

Work is the best narcotic.
With all our might, says the Lord
Stay active, physically mentally

"Old age ain't for sissies!
And it's a privilege.
Not granted to everyone".. ):

But,
it will be worth it all
When we see Jesus!

Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson February 3, 1959

Yes that was a long time ago. Not eons, but an era thrice or maybe four times removed and passed on by I suppose.

Is there music today?

I find if I am to enjoy secular music at all, I dig back in time to before my own, back to the 1930s and 1940s. I look into early American gospel too. with special appreciation of one Brother Claude Ely the author and singer of his testimony of joy despite awful circumstance as a child- "Ain't No Grave ( going to hold my body down)"

ps-Seems ageless rather than old to me.

You know how to tell when you become old? It's simple, it's whether you like Batman or the joker. As a kid everyone wants to be Batman. But, when you become an adult you realize the joker makes more sense!
