CSI: Abortions

When I was younger, my family didn't have cable. We had an antenna, and we only got two channels; the local broadcast and PBS. So it was a choice between true crime shows like Dateline, Law & Order, CSI Vegas and Miami, Without A Trace, and watching a guy build a bench or take a tour of George Washington's home. I am assuming that you can tell which channel had much more of my interest.

This thread is made for an episode of CSI: Vegas. The episode is called Secrets and Flies, and is the sixth episode of the sixth season. I will try to summarize the episode. 

It opens on a young woman lying dead beside her baby's crib. She is named Christina and her baby is Joey. The investigators quickly realize that her apparent suicide is staged, and Christina was murdered. Looking into her background, they discover that she went through with a surrogacy by a group that calls themselves "Project Sunflower" whom I will initial as PS. Basically, when people go in for invetro fertilization, doctors take and freeze far more embryos than are required. PS views these abandoned embryos as potential living children, and being a Christian organization, attempts to find women willing to raise these embryos as their own children. Christina went through this service, and so she is not Joey's biological mother.

Joey's biological parents are named Kelly and Dan. They were unable to have children, and went through the invetro fertilization process three times before giving up on having kids. However, Kelly saw a flier at the clinic about PS and decided to donate her remaining embryos. PS has a setup much like normal surrogacy, where the volunteer (Christina) and the parents of the embryo meet and agree to it. Christina made up her will early, and in it, it states that if she ends up dead, then Joey is returned to his biological parents.

That may make you think that Kelly did the deed, but no, it turned out to be Kelly's mother, Joey's grandmother. She learned of Christina's will, and so grabbed a gun and murdered her. As she admits to it in the interview room, she asks one of the investigators, Katherine, if Joey will go to Kelly. Katherine states that it's very likely, and upon hearing this, Kelly's mother then states that killing Christina was worth it because, "now my baby has her baby". That is the end of the case.

However, going back to when they learned about PS, Katherine went there to interview the women who runs PS. In this interview, Katherine gets upset with the woman and says that she is pro-choice. She behaves very poorly. Later in the episode, she approaches the head of the group of investigators, Gil Grissom. When she admits that she acted poorly, she makes the excuse that the PS woman's pro-life mindset irritated her. Grissom then says that, because PS is a Christian organization, Katherine should have quoted Leviticus 17:11. "The life of the flesh is in the blood" - so according to Grissom, this means that abortions are okay before the 18th day, when blood begins to pump through the fetus.

Anyone who has read Leviticus must wonder, what is the context of this quote? Well, you must know that Grissom (and likewise, the liberal writers) shortened the line of scripture and took it out of context. The full quote is "The life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul". This section of Leviticus is, of course, talking about how the eating of blood is forbidden. It has nothing to do with defining when life begins.

Even if blood is not flowing in the fetus, it is still an unborn baby. An abortions before or after the introduction of blood to the system is still a denial of life, and likewise, murder.

Say, for instance, I want to manufacture a bottle of Mountain Dew. I use the assembly line to form the plastic of the bottle itself. I then take the bottle over to fill it with MD, but a coworker stops me. He grabs the bottle I made and rips it apart. "What are you doing?," I ask, "I'm trying to make a bottle of MD." "But it was not a bottle of MD," he states, "It was just a plastic bottle". This coworker has still denied this bottle of MD from being made, with or without the liquid within.

This is why I advocate for people to look at the Bible as a whole. Quoting lines of scripture is not wrong, per say, but many deceivers and false prophets out there twist and diminish scripture by shortening it and taking it out of context, such as it is here in this example. We must never forget in our focusing in on particular lines of scripture to also consider the big picture, the whole of it all.

Towers of abomination on that day .   They lit up our GIANT TOWER PINK to HONOR that new bill that had passed that could even kill babies outside the womb , could just let it die .

Sister turtle knows about it .    God was not smiling at America and her huge pink tower all lit up .    We don't celebrate murder of babies and call it health care and womens rights .

That is just evil .    But that is what it was .
