how do you deal with spiritualists?

My sister is big on spirits. She does spirit healing and seems to have little knowledge of Christianity. She likes tarot,crystals,aura viewing and says she can see dead spirits and talk to them.

Today she said that God was just a light force of good. Not a person as such. She said when she died she could do what she liked and may decide to come back here. She is 'in touch'with spirits and does healing. She claims success with this.

I just cannot get through to her that she is wrong and that Christ is the only way forward. She gets really angry with me and says I am a narrow minded bigot. :

Can anyone help me to say something that she may listen to?

I was into the New Age and occultism before I was saved. No amount of quoting scriptures would ever help me. I had a demonic stronghold in my life and bible verses wouldn't help me (at that point).

What I needed was to have those strongholds crushed in Jesus' Name. This would come about through fasting and prayer.

Whenever we dabble into the occult we open doorways for the enemy. If you stand in the gap (through prayer and fasting), perhaps your sister will be better able to hear the the truth of God's Word minister and help her to overcome these spiritual barriers.

You need to show her the Spirit inside you. No amount of listening will change her heart. This comes from God alone. Only He can reveal the Truth to a persons heart.

Alot of times Christians 'tell' or speak of the Truth and wonder why it doesn't have any effect. Because we are called to "witness". Today you think of a person on a stand 'testifying' in words. But the true witness was ment to be 'seen' by his actions.

As John said to the Pharisee's who were coming to by immersed. If you have really turned from your sin to God, produce fruit that will prove it.

And James says, Faith without deeds is dead.

This is not about preaching Works for salvation. It's about letting others SEE the Spirit living in you. THIS will make them hungry for it. Telling them a beautiful story is nice and heart warming....Love....Joy, salvation...just say yes, I believe. But this is only spoken word and has to be proven by actions. Or it is vanity.

I would suggest not just speaking the witness but showing it to her. See, when you atually SEE the Spirit of God in another person, your not seeing the person but the Spirit. And THAT is the key. Only God can conform a heart into his likeness. 'Witness' to them the Spirit of God that lives within you!

They will either run to you with the hunger of a starving person, or they will run from you because they reject God. But nothing you can say will magically make them believe. You must 'witness' the living Spirit of God that was given you.

Romans 12:20-21 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

As has been said, you are dealing with the enemies "strongholds". I suggest that you pray and obey the above verses. If you are "diligent" in your efforts to see your sister "delivered", God will hear you and answer your prayers.

Idiem and others who replied to my worry re my sister. Many thanks.

I have been praying for her for the last three years and involved members of my church too.

Our church leader described 'Christian'spiritual healers that she had contact with as vicious. This term aptly describes my sisters attitude to anyone who does not agree with her.

Her co-spiritual healer is a homosexual and of course this vice is now OK with her.

My mother was into this spirit stuff too and brought us up to it. However I was born again in Christ and totally reject it seeing it as satan's work.

I have a small sitting room in my house with various religious pictures and a cross in it. She likes to sit in here and says it helps her to communicate with the spirits!!!

Thank you all again and I shall continue to pray for her.

Live the Life. Once she sees Jesus in you and that you're truly happy, She'll inquire. Then those scriptures that you tried to give her before will be more appealing to her. For now, the best thing you can do is live the life and Pray for her.

I know a little something of this. I was into dark music and things such as that. I didn't even know it, but while I was in the world I was getting into hinduism and occultism. I wasn't planning it. It just seemed like all of a sudden the art that I was buying for my house was of a hindu influence. My music became more and more "dark." It was a very suttle thing and, after coming to the Lord, I realized what was happening all the while it was unbeknownst to me.

The devil is a cunning adversary and we must use the weapons of our warfare!

On such a crucial point of doctrine, it is so nice to people agreeing that the spiritualism is truly of the devil. It is also nice that everyone has offered to pray and fast for serrae's sister. All we can do is pray, Its is up to the HolySpirit to convince of the truth. If she rejects the light he sends..we have done our part. Serrae...I wish your sister get hold of the book....by Roger Mourneau.. A Trip into the Supernatural. He was once a spiritualist medium and he got out. He told all the secrets of the Spiritualists groups. The book really opened my eyes to the battles that are daily being waged by good and bad angels on our behalf. Praise God for his protection. Right now, God is still protected your sister and she doesnt even know it. If he was not, Satan would have had her killed. THats what he wants for the entire human race. Death without the hope of the ressurection of life. Next time you pray for your sister..Pray that God would remove her blinders so she can really see what she is involved in.

By the way, we thank merry ole england for all the Harry Potter's trash. England has fallen so hard. Please dont take this personal. But England was the where Protestants got its beginning. First with the KIng James Bible which is still the only true protestants bible and with great monarchs, like Queen Elizabeth I, who wouldnt bow to the Popes. Your country had made it possible for our nation to strike out and enjoy the freedom we have hold truly, like the freedom of Religion.
