 I need some help with a sin that I have been struggling with almost all of my life, some in one of the other discussions mentioned being a christian but still sinning, its true for me, for a long while I didn't know that what I was doing was wrong but then I starting reading christian books and found it is wrong in many christians eyes, heres my dilemma, I don't want to do the sin anymore, but for some reason I can't let it go either. I've prayer a million times for God to deliver me and to help me not to fall in to this sin anymore but nothing has changed. My sin that I'm stuggling with is a sexual one, any advice on how to be changed and to break free? I have tried reading my bible when I have the feeling to sin, I even pray that God will deliver me from this feeling so I don't fall in to sin, but the sin has become a habit. Help please.... :24:

Thanks!

I'm not sure if you are male or female...but I'd encourage you to seek out someone of the same gender who is older/wiser and more spiritually mature who can help you and hold you accountable. I can assure you, you aren't the first person with this struggle, nor will you be the last. There is hope, don't give up.

Hi Smile 1.

I would have a couple of suggestions. First though, remember that any sin is forgiven, that if you believe in Christ if you have faith, sooner or later you will lose this sin, the point is the struggle, and not giving up. If you feel guilt it means the Holy Spirit is working in you, and that is a good thing, not bad. The fact that you recognize this sin as sin, that you wish in your heart to be free of it shows that you are in grace, even if you don't feel like it!

1. Prayer

2. Confession, not necessarily required, and not necessarily in a Catholic sense, unless you are Catholic. But Satan hates it when we admit our sins, sin flees from someone who does not hide the sin, confess it to Christ, confess it to a mature Christian you trust, if you are Catholic confess it to a priest you trust.

3. Recognize that sexual sin has dogged Christians and all humans for eternity, your sin is not unique, regardless of what it is.

4. Find other things you enjoy, and keep track of your progress against this sin.

5. Do not entertain this sin, don't play with it, try to stop it from entering your mind as soon as you see it, with habit it can be broken, just as with habit it can be made harder to control.

6. Recognize that you may never be free from it, it may be a lifelong struggle, yet recognize that it is worth struggling against, and in a word never give up.

That

Tempted?

Need Forgiveness?

Psalm 51

I am sorry for your struggle. You aren't alone. Continue to read and absorb the Word. Don't be afraid to tell God that you like what you are doing - He already knows that. Ask Him to take the desire for it away from you. That has worked for me in the past.

May I suggest that you have far too much preoccupation with your problem.

Your attention is on yourself and the works of the flesh to keep your eyes off of Jesus.

Begin to put this matter aside and replace it with reading the bible, prayer and worship of our Saviour.

This activity as well as fellowship with other Christians and reaching out to help others will displace the time your are spending on worrying about your habit.

As someone has stated, it is nothing new and you haven't shocked God.

Replace this habit with new good habits. They are just as hard to break as the bad habits.

#1Smile.

You have made a good start, by first acknowledging that you know it'a sin and confessing the sin to christian brothers and sisters in Christ on this notice board. I am not one for quoting scripture as a rule, but 1.Cor10:13 is one that has helped me many times. It's about testing and temptation and support to overcome it by the excercising faith that the Lord will help you overcome it.

Father, I pray for this young woman, that You would send Your comforter, the Holy Spirit that he would guide her in Your ways and repel the desire of the fleshly thoughts before they come upon her and rebuke the power of this habit in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.

Smile, don't put your trust in the counsel of man, but take it to the Lord in prayer

1Pet.5:7. Cast all your anxieties on Him, because He care for you. NIV.

God bless you,

eric.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
