Do you agree that Christians are accountible for how we use what we have?

Are we impressed by what other people have and we do not have?

What did Jesus told us to do in this case?

We comprimise eveytime that we don't pray over large financial matters and leave the decision to ourselves. We are accountible for our tithes. We are also accountable not to squander our money on sinful things (gambling, pornography, alcohol, drugs, idols, and other worldly things etc.). Compared to the majority of the world, most people have much nicer things than I. I am just thankful to God for what I have. If someday He wants me to have nicer things, He will provide a way to get them for me. I will not lose a second sleep because I do not have the wealth of others.

Amen Bob!!!

The lord promised if we seek Him first, He will give us the things we need. It matters where our hearth is, we cannot have it both!!

Heres a funny one for you Angel. Before I was saved I had a Harley. Well after I was saved I could not shake the ego thing when I rode my bike. So eventually I sold it and put the money in stocks figuring I would start taking care of my future. Well needless to say I lost most of it. Ha Ha.

Hi Angel,

I'll resurrect this discussion.  I agree completely that a Christian is accountable for using what he/she has.  Of course, I don't think this stops with money.  We must use our time, money, resources, our everything wisely.  God gave us everything, therefore we should squander nothing.

Wow,I can't believe I started this topic A YEAR ago,

I agree Martyr,we are accountible for everything in our life what we do with it and how we spend it, nothing is ours.

Someday we find out what will stand!! Hopefully it will not all be burned!!

Great topic Angels! :thumb:

I see people scrambling to keep up with the Jones' so to speak and they never seem to be happy....always struggling to keep up but always one step behind who they are trying to be like :???:

After salvation I started to change I can't say exactely when it happened...but its like one day the thought popped into my head that I hadn't been daydreaming about having lots of money I didn't waste my time yearning for some big purchase product!  I finanly came to realization that everything I have is God's...right down to the pillow under my head at night.  So now I thank God for everything I have....and the rest just seems to fall into place....

We have to get hard wood floors in our house (daughters allergies) and its gonna happen :thumb:   I like to call it a surprise present from Him!  He made sure we could afford it, He provided us with the wisdom to save and not waste.

God is Grand !!!!

Love and Blessings

There is much Scripture that speaks about money, most of it giving warning.  God knows that wealth is seductive and we are vulnerable.  Plus what do we all have? We Americans love to collect "things".  Have you sat down and listed all the Things you have acquired for your home? TV's , VCR's, Computers, etc......What a discernment process to know what  we are to obtain and what we are to let go of.

However, I will say that when we were seeking to move, we prayed about it for many years, and we came close a couple of times to buying however, it never was quite what we had discerned God wanted.  In fact, we once put a bid in on a new home, our realtor called me and said that the owners came within $5000 of our offer, and even with us adding the extra money into the buy, it would still be a great deal for us. He said we were crazy if we didnt take it.  The problem was that we had prayed and felt that what we offered was the highest we should go. If they wouldnt take it, it wasnt to be. However, I began to waiver and called my husband and tried to talk him into "going for it".....he reminded me of our decision, I begrudgingly called the realtor and said no, I was thinking that we would never get another home like that, and amost one year later, a builder called US, telling us that he remembered we had looked at one of his homes and were seeking a home with land, he had recently aquired this land and our names came to his mind.  We ended up buying the land, building a wonderful home, it is MUCH better than the one I thought we needed, and it was all done within our price range--in fact the builder gave US a check at the end for guess what---$5000......We very much acknowledge that this home was a gift from God and He wants us to use it for his purpose.  However as Martyr said, it is all God's--all of it...and for everything we are accountable.

Man, I see so much insight and wisdom in some posts...I love it, Martyr...so right.

My husband would love Terri Mc...he's a motorcycle enthusiast. I'm not.

Suzie: So very true...I was poor for so long then the Lord turned my world upside down and put me in the opposite position. Then I realized and confessed that, yeah...wealth can be seductive.

I knew that the Lord had purposed to bless me in this way but I thought I could handle it. I'd always been very generous and wouldn't think twice about giving away my car {I'd given three of them away} my clothing {my very best clothes} and my money {whatever I had} to others.

God rewarded and blessed me after being put to the test for several years. When I gave, I gave our of my poverty...I gave my only car, I gave what little I had, etc.

I have noticed, however, that when you have a lot of money, it seems harder to give as freely. You can do it and overcome this but Satan works on the base nature.

I am convinced that I will be victorious because I keep short accounts with the Father above and remain transparent with Him. I an open with Him and we talk alot. I confess human weakness and seek His strength in the face of temptation.

I believe I am blessed so that I can be a blessing to others. I love to give and I know God wants to preserve that in me, especially with the tough times ahead.

Cats with those of you who have the gift of giving , God has blessed to give and give wisely.  But it is never easy is it. dont you think God makes it difficult on us so that we will seek His will? if it were easy we wouldnt need God would we....Thank God for people like you and those who give from the Father's heart!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
