I don't know, Charlie, it seems like too much hair splitting to differentiate between fertilization and implantation, regarding which one is actually "life". Why get into hair splitting and semantics, what's the purpose?

I think the purpose is to determine whether the morning after pill is okay or not. While it can prevent implantation of the fertilized egg so can birth control pills. The first is shunned by much of the protestant Christian community while the other is condoned. I see the hair splitting coming more from those with the double standard. For me I see no problem with either pill because I don't believe there's a pregnancy without implantation for reasons, and sources, I've already given so I won't repeat them.

I've just tried to explain my opinon on the subject and why I think the way I do; I realize others disagree with me and that's fine too.

Sounds like both of you oppose both birth control pills and the morning after pill; you're consistent.

Nebula, we're in  disagreement on the biological definition of the smallest unit of life; I see an impasse between us on this.

Yes I think blood cells are alive; we have to have blood to live.

We wouldn't give a name to a blood cell or a fertilized egg but we give names to babies growing in the womb pretty quickly. So, for what I think you're talking about in a bigger sense (the big picture) I'd say it takes lots of cells, including blood cells, replicating in the womb to evolve into a person....once again, multicellular.

I think a LOT happens pretty quickly once implantation takes place; provided the fertilized egg just doesn't "take" for some reason and is miscarried. For those that do "take" I think within a month you get neurons firing in the brain and some sensory perception and a beating heart; AMAZING! That's a whole lotta of fast replicating; fast evolving. That's why I think if someone really doesn't want to have a baby they should use birth control so that the egg either doesn't get fertilized or so it doesn't attach; cutting or sucking that growing baby out of the womb is unacceptable and unethical imo.

Her body is also made to breastfeed for a period of time - which is a natural birth control.

Nuh uh....my mother got pregnant with me while she was still breastfeeding my barely 3 month old sister.

My parents knew each other two weeks when they got married; they had me 9 months later. Mom tried once to half-heartedly convince me that I was a planned child haha! She gave up on that pretty quickly when she saw I wasn't 'buying it'.
