Can you explain to me what a Christian is?

Of course a Christian believes that Jesus is God/the Son of God, that's step 1. Then we accept Jesus death as payment for our sins because the wages of sin is death. Jesus paid that price but once we accept Jesus we say He is our Lord & Savior. Since we consider Jesus our Lord that means we now seek to obey Him and to be pleasing in God's sight. That means to avoid sin as much as possible. By doing all this we show ourselves to be disciples of the Lord while we await His return. Whether that be 1 day or 1000 years doesn't matter to us because our hope is for what we shall be once we're with God.

There is only one time where Paul said anything on his own.  This can be read in 1 Corinthians 7:12.  As I said before, Paul, being a Pharisee of Pharisees, he knew the rules of the Synagogue and was stating just that.

I don't believe God told Paul to tell us women can't speak in church.

Do different pastors teach different things in your church?

We only have one pastor in my church.

I have someone very close to me in my life who believes Jesus existed, but does not believe that Jesus died on the cross for his sins and is the Son of God, so he is not a Christian.

One might argue that those who don't obey the Lord's commandments aren't Christians. I don't think I'd go so far as that.

Sounds like you've been well and truly brainwashed by feminism, one of the greatest evils ever to afflict mankind.

No, I believe in justice. I see no justice in telling a woman she can't speak in church and then telling a man that he can.

Satan is building a civilization that forces everyone to make a choice between God's laws and demonic culture.

It seems to me Satan wants us all to worship him. The more we sin, the more we are at his mercy.

what are they then who do not obey the Lord's Commandments?

I suspect few, if any of us, has reached perfection. We are still Christians, if we are trying to do the Lord's will, wouldn't you say? I think there are some wolves in sheeps clothing in our churches who are more concerned with making a name for themselves than doing the Lord's will, though.

FOR THE RECORD PEOPLE, I BELIEVE THE BIBLE AND EVERYTHING IT SAYS IS TRUE.....    WE MAY NOT UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING BUT THERE ARE NO THINGS IN THE BIBLE THAT IS NOT TRUE.....     IT IS THE POSTER WHO GOES BY johnthebaptist  THAT THINKS PAUL MADE A MISTAKE AND PUT IT IN THE BIBLE.....    NOT ME.

Some of us knew this sam. Its just a couple of folks who have misunderstood your posts. But I can understand the frustration of being misunderstood over something important like this.

Hmm... Well bro, Paul did have his own personal opinion in this verse.

1 Corinthians 11:14 KJV 14Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
