Of course a Christian believes that Jesus is God/the Son of God, that's step 1. Then we accept Jesus death as payment for our sins because the wages of sin is death. Jesus paid that price but once we accept Jesus we say He is our Lord & Savior. Since we consider Jesus our Lord that means we now seek to obey Him and to be pleasing in God's sight. That means to avoid sin as much as possible. By doing all this we show ourselves to be disciples of the Lord while we await His return.
