How to handle such a situation wisely? When evangelising on the streets and a passerby christian is interested in joining?

I have been evangelising on the streets. Our team grew to 5 brothers and sisters who come from different churches. We share the same views on the triune God, who Jesus is, our salvation by faith alone. I knew them before they joined, so the choice was not hard to make. Praise God for sending fellow believers to join the mission.

But now we have met another christian brother that I don't know and he would like to join. I know he comes from a church with a slightly different view on doctrine, close to easy believism.

How to handle such a situation wisely?
I find it hard to act like a cop and go through a checklist about his faith. But on the other hand, I want to make sure we are not sharing the wrong messages and that we all truly follow Christ.

Looking forward to experiences/advices!

Mark 9:38-40 (NIV)
"Teacher," said John, "we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us."
"Do not stop him," Jesus said. "No one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us."

Include him. Don't make it hard. Jesus said,  "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."  Romans 10:9 (NIV)  There are no other conditions.

BTW, I find it inspiring that you are being a doer of the Word and not merely a hearer.

Shalom Wesley,

How did the situation with your church leader go?

Anyway, this situation does require sensitivity and wisdom in equal parts.

I would suggest to prayer about it with your team of 5 for guidance on the matter and let the new person know this.  I think it's more that reasonable to say this to the new guy, saying that you want to make sure you are lead by Him rather than good ideas.  That should both sensitive and wise to the new person's ears - if their motives are good.

If you submit this matter to the Father together in your group of 5, I'm sure one or more of you will have an answer on the situation.

Love & Shalom

@wesley l - How about if your current team puts together a list of doctrines that you adhere to, and then explain that anyone who joins your ministry would logically need to believe in these doctrines as well. Speaking for myself, I could not work with someone that took the Word of God out of context.

The Holy Spirit interpreted scriptures (2 Peter 1:20-21) that you verify

it actually is the Holy Spirit (1 John 4:1) doing the interpreting by the scriptures

(Acts 17:11)... then the BIBLE will discern who is and who isn't following or preaching

the GENUINE Jesus Christ.

In the case of people who err, they may simply need you to point out what the problem

is showing the SCRIPTURAL evidence.

Apologetics.

If they submit to the BIBLE as we all are supposed to, then you have won a brother or sister.

Then, of course, have at the crowd for Jesus!

God bless you in your outreach

may your tribe increase!

I had occasion to witness with a brother and do a street protest outside Jack Murphy Stadium

(annual JW convention) who bought into the Preterist heresy. It so tainted his theology, he was out to

destroy everyone who opposed his precious Preterism.

We parted bitterly.

Preterism may seem harmless on the surface, but it is anti-prophetic (relegating most or all prophecy to past fulfillment)

and it is antisemitic.

Before he joins you you have to ask him questions about his faith and what he believes and then make a choice to have him join or not. You could ask him the simple questions, there are questions that are definitive of his faith. One would be what do you think of Jesus. For someone you join is really important because that new person can make or break your evangelism.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
