I am not sure if this has already been debated.. if it has I am sorry..

I have heard many things about how certain things on the tv are great.. and then again.. i turn it on and cannot find anything good. My own old youth pastor calls it the Helevision because his sons were watching it instead of doing their devotions(he broke the attenae)

I am just curious what everyone's opinion is and if anyone knows of some GOd-honouring shows other than preachers on TV that are mostly out for money.

There are alot of good things on t.v. TLC, Discovery Channel. Food Network, etc... Some funny shows too. Down here there are alot of Gosepel and Christian Channels. I sometimes watch TBN which is a Christian Channel. Remember Kirk Cameron from Growing Pains? He is on there. It is pretty good. I love it when this black woman is preaching about her ministry on another channel. I can't remember her name but she pumps me up. 7th Heaven is a good family show!

TV is good for teaching kids about consumerism. It's good for teaching kids how to swear and act like trash. TV is a good way to encourage parents to ignore their children and men and women to ignore their spouses. TV is a good way to project images of pain and suffering into your living rooms through the news. Brain pollution. ;)

95% bad. Not all bad if you are very diciplined in your selections.

It's not 'God honoring', but there are two shows on the food network I love - one is "Unwrapped" and the other is "The Secret Life of..........". They pick a food (Usually an American classic) and show its origins, how it is made and packaged etc. Lots of little snippets regarding it. It's always facinating and lots of fun to watch.

For instance, last week one of the segments was about classic boardwalk food - saltwater taffy, frozen custurd etc. One was about Pasta - and canned classics like spaghettios and Chef Boyardee. (Did you know his real name was Boiardi?? LOL. Hot dogs was done on one segment recently, as well as popular drinks - KoolAid, FlavorAid, Hawian punch. Did you know that big gallon jug that Hawian punch comes in starts out as a little plastic tube? It gets stuck on a big machine, hot air blown into it and it expands to the gallon size. Then you see it as it goes down the converyer belt, gets filled and labeled. LOL, I guess you can tell I love the show. ;)

Unwrapped is on every night at 7:30 and also on Sundays - multiple segments starting at 5:00 p.m, followed by The Secret life of.

TV isn't inherently good or bad. It depends on how it is used, what is being viewed, and the effect the show has on the person. If I watch the evening news, am I sinning? If i watch the history channel (which is on my TV almost 24/7) am I sinning? Of course not. It all depends on what is being viewed.

I honestly don't know of any God honoring shows on TV. Then again I have only had acces to extended basic for about a month. Even then I have had limited access to the TV with my roommates daughter here.

Remember Kirk Cameron from Growing Pains

Didn't he do Tim Lahayes movie series on the rapture? I've seen them all but they had little impact on me. Even so its nice to have some familiar faces from Hollywood professing our Lord and Savior. I will have to keep an eye open for the show he is on. For the record I have little reason to trust TBN at this point. From all I have heard they are the primary vehicle for people like Benny Hinn. I have no desire to promote/encourage people like Benny Hinn than I would want China to have free acces to buy American companies.

There are still some channels I like to watch in general. Animal Planet, Discovery channel and discovery Health, the history channel is ok, I like spike and Sci-fi channel too. I can't think of any others atm.

I would have to agree though. There is not much to watch that is conducive of a Godly lifstyle. This is one reason I can see myself spending most of my time either at the Gym or in Bible study. With Gods blessing I hope I wont have to wait long before I have internet access at my new apartment so I may again continue to fellowship with my brothers and sisters here at WB.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
