This is entirely possible. A little difficult to fathom but not out of the question. 4 hours ago, Gideon said: Just something to think about. Indeed it is. You could call me a partial Preterist though I might deviate from that a bit. I do not believe in Sola Scriptura I believe in Scripture with Tradition, I believe in the continuing gifts of the Holy Spirit, I believe that the Church is the pillar and foundation of truth and I believe the filoque should not be in the Nicene creed, I believe in the absolute Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, I believe in praying to the Saints. Okay. I've known numerous Charismatic Catholics. It was back in the days of The Jesus People Movement. But I say unto to you love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. You can't shoot your enemy dead and yet pray for him or his family sincerely and effectively afterwards The apostle taught that vengeance belongs to the Lord therefore we should not take revenge but leave the final judgement to God. Mat5 KJV For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? Do not even the publican so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your heavenly Father which is in heaven is perfect Ok, so your daughter is being raped and strangled by a man. If you don't shoot him, then your daughter suffers a horrific and miserable death. Are you saying you would just.... pray for him, while he's raping your daughter? While he is slowly strangling the life out of her? Does "loving your enemy" mean allowing evil and injustice on the Earth? Is that what you believe? It’s just too much temptation every single day. My concern wouldn't be the temptation for corruption. It would be the issue of life endangerment. It's far too risky for a parent's comfort having to deal with. I'd end up a worrywort. Losing a son or daughter would be hard for me to handle. Read the old testament, Israel had an army that fought frequently and God allowed it. Just saying.
