Don't think twice, it's alright.

I love the way he used double meanings. Very Shakespearean

Peter, Paul & Mary did a decent cover of this as well. Mom and I were very fond of this famous main stream folk trio. She purchased the LP with, Leaving on a Jet Plane for me, which I believe John Denver composed? Their other hit on this album was, I Dig Rock and Roll Music. A very nice tune. Several of  some of our favorite groups are mentioned in this Top 10 Hit.

  1. I Dig Rock and Roll Music

I dig rock and roll music
And I love to get the chance to play (and sing it)
I figure it's about the happiest sound goin' down today

The message may not move me
Or mean a great deal to me
But hey! It feels so groovy to say
I dig the Mamas and the Papas at "the trip"
    Sunset strip in L.A.
And they got a good thing goin'
When the words don't get in the way
    And when they're really wailing
    Michelle and Cass are sailin'
Hey! they really nail me to the wall

Donovan kind of in a dream-like, tripped out way
His crystal images tell you 'bout a brighter day
And when the Beatles tell you
They've got a word "love" to sell you
They mean exactly what they say

I dig rock and roll music
I could really get it on in that scene.
I think I could say somethin' if you know what I mean
But if I really say it, the radio won't play it
Unless I lay it between the lines

One of the songs that put Dylan officially as a "protest singer" would be this bash at just about everything and everyone associated with the so-called, "establishment". This bold and outspoken tune and lyrics are more than confrontational. It was straight from the shoulder and hit directly between the eyes. It lashes out against the common frustrations with the youth of our time, being the 1960's. And it was not only in America. They became worldwide concerns. Things such as, socio-economic equality, racial rights, and wars were raging on in the entire world. Global unrest was apparent and age had little to do with planetary dissatisfaction.

  1. The Times They Are A-Changin'

    Come gather 'round, people
    Wherever you roam
    And admit that the waters
    Around you have grown
    And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth savin'
    And you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'

    Come writers and critics
    Who prophesize with your pen
    And keep your eyes wide
    The chance won't come again
    And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
    And there's no tellin' who
    That it's namin'
    For the loser now
    Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'

    Come senators, congressmen
    Please heed the call
    Don't stand in the doorway
    Don't block up the hall
    For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
    The battle outside ragin'
    Will soon shake your windows
    And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'

    Come mothers and fathers
    Throughout the land
    And don't criticize
    What you can't understand
    Your sons and your daughters
    Are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly agin'
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'

    The line it is drawn
    The curse it is cast
    The slow one now
    Will later be fast
    As the present now
    Will later be past
    The order is rapidly fadin'
    And the first one now
    Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'

I was first introduced to Dylan with this song. My sister sent it to me online. I'm sure I probably heard it before but never paid attention to the words. After that, I actually wrote him a letter, lol. I can't remember what it said but I think I asked him how much longer we are going to have to wait, ha! I think it was 6 or 7 years ago.

I am absolutely loving his new album Rough and Rowdy Ways. I've listened to it so many times. Meaning is constantly evolving in my minds eye. I just listened to, "I’ve Made Up My Mind to Give Myself to You" which reminds me of Henry's loyalty to LadyPear in the land of last ♡

Yes, a hard rain's gonna fall. I cried many, many tears listening to this one over the years. I know about the highway, so sad.

Here are the lyrics to Dylan's rendition of Lord Randall's poem and also one of my favorites.

  1. A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall

Oh, where have you been, my blue-eyed son
And where have you been, my darling young one
I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I've crawled on six crooked highways
I've stepped in the middle of seven sad forests
I've been out in front of a dozen dead oceans
I've been ten thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard
    And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, and it's a hard
    It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall

Oh, what did you see, my blue-eyed son
And what did you see, my darling young one
I saw a newborn baby with wild wolves all around it
I saw a highway of diamonds with nobody on it
I saw a black branch with blood that kept drippin'
I saw a room full of men with their hammers a-bleedin'
I saw a white ladder all covered with water
I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken
I saw guns and sharp swords in the hands of young children
    And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard
    It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall

And what did you hear, my blue-eyed son?
And what did you hear, my darling young one?
I heard the sound of a thunder that roared out a warnin'
Heard the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world
Heard one hundred drummers whose hands were a-blazin'
Heard ten thousand whisperin' and nobody listenin'
Heard one person starve, I heard many people laughin'
Heard the song of a poet who died in the gutter
Heard the sound of a clown who cried in the alley
    And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard
    It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall

Oh, what did you meet, my blue-eyed son?
Who did you meet, my darling young one?
I met a young child beside a dead pony
I met a white man who walked a black dog
I met a young woman whose body was burning
I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow
I met one man who was wounded in love
I met another man who was wounded with hatred
    And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard
    It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall

And what'll you do now, my blue-eyed son?
And what'll you do now, my darling young one?
I'm a-goin' back out 'fore the rain starts a-fallin'
I'll walk to the depths of the deepest black forest
Where the people are many and their hands are all empty
Where the pellets of poison are flooding their waters
Where the home in the valley meets the damp dirty prison
And the executioner's face is always well hidden
Where hunger is ugly, where souls are forgotten
Where black is the color, where none is the number
And I'll tell it and think it and speak it and breathe it
And reflect it from the mountain so all souls can see it
Then I'll stand on the ocean until I start sinkin'
But I'll know my song well before I start singin'
    And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard
    It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall

Indeed. I can surely understand why. While the chord structure to the this song were simplistic, the words and phrases of the lyrics went deeply into the heart of everyone listening with intent to find meaning. I think we all fully realize what an amazing individual and artist Bob Dylan was as a person and musician.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
