David Jeremiah wrote SLAYING THE GIANTS IN YOUR LIFE - a book and a workbook

His GIANTS can be anything we have trouble with, addiction, temptations, whatever

There be GIANTS all over the place

I'm old and my memory ain't what it use to be. My research indicates the pseudepigrapha 1 Enoch was written sometime between the inter-testament period? If I recall correctly, fragments of 1 Enoch were also found among the Dead Sea Scrolls, and Dr. Heiser confirms the dating? <- notice it's all questions. Then there's the other Enoch pseudepigrapha's I have little knowledge on.

The Rock Hudson movie was GIANT - singular, also with Liz Taylor in it and James Dean in one of his only 3 movies.

Well at my age, just to remember it does me proud LoL.

My memory says the 1 Enoch was written in the 3rd century BC.  If Enoch was written or orally transmitted by the biblical person called Enoch, this is way before Noah's Flood.  So how can he write about something that did not occur until after he was taken up to be with God.

The Book of Enoch seems to be an expansion of our Genesis 6 account. I used to have it, both Laurence and Charles translations. It is quoted in Jude. It was, may still be - in the Abyssinian Canon.

Enoch seems full of these bad angels that left their first estate - it might have named all 200 of the bad angels - but no one seems clear on which books Enoch includes, Secrets of Enoch, Ethiopian Enoch, 1 Enoch...

Enoch seems to be the first to get raptured. Early Church Fathers proposed that Enoch and Elijah were the 2 witnesses in Revelation, because they never died, and are said to be killed by the Beast, and revive in 3 1/2 days. Other scholars said Moses and Elijah were the 2 witnesses - they both appeared to Jesus together, the miracles of the 2 witnesses seem to match Moses and Elijah - the Enoch and Elijah idea may be tied in to Hebrews 9:27 - Moses actually died, E and E did not.

Yep, we're on the same page. It's quite clear the apostles and Jews read and learned other books; and imply, reference and quote from those extra biblical tests. We all know these extra biblical texts are not divinely inspired, and are to be taken as such and not give them the weight of scripture.

Peter, Jude and others mention and quote from extra biblical texts and books. I cannot say for certainty what there reason was? To compare and relay an idea or thought about something they already knew well? To direct the reader to read for themselves to fill in missing blanks? The Jews certainly knew all about Greek mythology, demi-gods and Mesopotamian literature.

Yep, I'm well aware of that. That's why it's called a pseudepigrapha, the author is unknown, so it was titled for the main character in it [Enoch]. Nothing to see here citizen, move along :red-neck-laughing-smiley-emoticon:

There are genealogies from Adam forward.  I haven't taken the time to see where that places Noah in the genealogies.  I'd like to submit a different idea for you to consider and all who read/study Noah's Flood.  Genesis 6:4 tells us the Nephilim survived the flood.  But the Nephilim were not people like Noah.  Nephilim were the offspring of angels and man by way of women.  So the Nephilim survived the flood, at least some of them.  We know from Peter 2:4 that the angels who had sex with human women.  They are not the Nephilim.  But their offspring are the Nephilim and their various descendants.  So how did they survive?

  1. Noah's Flood - was a regional flood, not a global flood.  That allowed some of the Nephilim to escape the regional flood.
  2. What happens to the Nephilim when they die?  Someone wrote above that demons didn't appear until after Noah's Flood.  So since Nephilim can die, why didn't the flood kill all the Nephilim?
  3. Because Noah's Flood was not global, but regional.

History shows large beings all over the Earth.  Large skeletons have been found, many hidden away by the Smithsonian Institute.  Every society around the world after Noah's Flood have evidence of giants in both their oral and written history.  This is an indisputable fact.

All those big skeletons are hoaxes or photo manipulations.

That's revisionist interpretation of history to be politically correct with a liberal interpretation of scripture.

Since everyone is speculating like mad in this thread, I'm not sure why my speculation is any worse that some of the other bizarre stuff being promoted.

I think Saved.One.By.Grace is correct there, teddy

Some of us believe if the spies report said there were GIANTS in the area - there were GIANTS in the area.

Caleb and Joshua saw the same things the other 10 spies did - but  felt "we can take 'em"...

And they did - but didn't totally annihilate everyone they were supposed to.

Well, I don't agree obviously. Since everything was reportedly wiped out in the Flood, we have others saying that some actually did survive the Flood. I guess I could buy that, since I don't hold to a global Flood. As I said to Saved, I'm not sure why my speculation is somehow liberal or revisionist without further clarification. It's nothing I've particularly read about, just something that came across my mind. Maybe it was just the way I stated it?

Are we all "speculating like mad"?

I am undecided about the flood being global or regional.

I reject the EUPHEMISM that Ham slept with Noah's wife because of the actions Shem and Japheth did to correct things, and the fact that Ham and Noah's wife were not killed for the action.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
