Matthew    22:37-40

Romans  13:9-10

Hi warrior,

I now know why I couldn't find a contradiction between Mt.22:37-40 and what Paul wrote in Rom 13: 9-10.

The answer that the lawyer gave to the Lord Jesus is exactly the same as Paul's statement in the Romans letter.

"And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

The Lord Jesus said about this:'And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.' (Lk.10:27-28)

'the second is like unto it'

As expected, no hint of any contradiction.

Was nice to look it up, thanks Warrior.

God bless.

kingdombrad,

Indeed, the word of God is in perfect harmony. Hence, probably, I couldn't find any contradiction between the preaching of the Lord Jesus and Paul.
So I don't really understand why this is mentioned.

God bless you.

They are simple things like one said it was not ok to eat and another says it's ok to eat.   That can easily go down to mis-translation.

Yes that's right.  Some people are mainly concerned with theories, in which they develop separate terms from the Bible into a paradigm. Characteristic is that they always say a lot (their theory!) But hardly use Bible texts, where the truth speaks for itself.

Understood.   You see though, many would be alarmed at Paul not quoting Jesus saying below, or leaving it out and then saying to love thy neighbor as thyself, meaning omitting God as the greatest.   The argument is based somewhere on that line I think.  There are bible students here who can say more on this and correct me.

Matthew 22

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

I've discovered the Word covers itself in many places two or more times from Genesis to Revelation.   Daniel mentions something, Matthew seems to connect the dots, and Revelation [some might toss in Enoch for good measure (1st Chapter) but there's a connection between themes and "Doctrines" are born from this.

They however can create a doctrine with a slight twist from a non theme where the Bible mentions [no] variations of the subject matter and suddenly it formulates a meaning that never before had a chance.

Here are some verses that cause me to believe that Peter, James and John were at odds with Paul.

Quote

Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us. (1 John 2:18-19)

Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? … If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord. Mine answer to them that do examine me is this, Have we not power to eat and to drink? Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and [as] the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? (Paul 1Cor 9:1-5)

for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. (1 John 2:19-20)

For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed: For [his] letters, say they, [are] weighty and powerful; but [his] bodily presence [is] weak, and [his] speech contemptible. (Paul 2Cor 8, 10)

But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous [are they], selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. (2 Peter 2:10)

And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth. Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, [thou] whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law? And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God's high priest? (Paul Acts 23:2-6)

But these speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption’ (1 Peter 2:12)

When Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision… But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before [them] all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews? (Paul Gal 2:11-14)

The tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: .... Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? (James 3:5-11)

Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. (1 John 5:21)

An idol is nothing (Paul 1Cor 8:4)

But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation ) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. Then Saul, (who also [is called] Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him, And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, [thou] child of the devil, [thou] enemy of all righteousness

The reason this is important is because some would have us discard otherwise valid discussion on Pauline theology (such as that originating with E. P. Sanders or N. T. Wright) simply or solely because it is purportedly a heresy from educated and titled heretics.

So then, let's ask the question.  Is the cannon closed ?.  Do you believe the bible as it is now is the incorruptible word of God ?.  If you answer yes, then those who question the apostle Paul writings are indeed heretics.

SisterWells,

Not everyone draws the same conclusions when reading the Bible.
It would help us sis, if you underline in the texts you quoted and briefly explain your conclusion why you think there were tensions.

God bless you.

It's hard to sum up briefly and if it's not concise no one will read it. I will try as time allows. From original post: 112 articles. Who has read even one? not me

Sorry sis, I am not interested in links nor homework to read.  I am interested in what your personal opinion is because you have read something.  I would like to hear your conclusions and your personal thoughts, based on the Bible, the rest is irrelevant and I leave it out.

God bless.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
