Marriage Blessing from G-D

Isn't it a shame, how man - made - traditions. have blinded folks into believing, they must buy a marriage license from the state. Before they can marry each other. When................they only need to gather with a Minister of G-D.

To my knowledge, there is no place in the Bible that states one must do this.

The Pastor can write out on paper that he has joined these two in marraige.

Infact when I married my husband we received a marriage form from the church. Ofcourse we had the state license too, because we didn't know better at the time.

State marriage license and divorces is just way for man to make more money.

The thing with this is that we still need to avoid the appearance of evil in the public's eye. If you were to talk about this with an atheist saying, "we're married, but only in God's eyes; the government doesn't recognize our union" they'd probably shrug and say "so, what you're saying is that you're not really married, and are in fact having extra-marital sex." I think forty dollars (that's what it is here, in Canadian dollars) is a pretty small price to pay for getting married legally, so that your union is recognized by EVERYONE.

They're not "just a bunch of worldly people," they're a bunch of people who need to be saved! We may be the only Christians some people talk with. The way they see us is the way they see our God, and I think that's a pretty huge calling. We can tell them "well, our God recognizes our union" all we want. The thing is, that's a fallacious argument to them, because they don't believe our God exists, and you need to believe in our God for that statement to be true (in their perception).

How does a person paying forty dollars for a marriage licence go against God? Even Jesus said we're supposed to pay the government what we owe them. If you DON'T get your marriage licence, then you claim on your tax forms that you are married, they will call that tax evasion or fraud! THAT is illegal, and because it is illegal, it goes against God's will. Now, are you for God or against Him??

Okay, Were state marriage licenses issued in Jesus time?

Did Jesus ever say do not get marriage licenses? When marriage is mentioned in the bible, did it ever specify that marriage must be seperate from the government? Or only done one way? Would that mean that you also view anyone who got married by a justice of the peace as living in sin, since a pastor didnt marry them? Would a marriage before someone other than a True Christian Pastor be invalid?

Having a marriage license is not against the Lord. Jesus never taught that mans laws that did not go against God were something to fight against. Paul, in the epistles, inspired by the Holy Spirit, clearly states to follow the laws of man, except where they conflict with Gods laws. Getting a marriage license doesnt conflict with the Lord.

Romans 13:1 - Everyone must submit to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist are instituted by God.

His instructions are to submit to governing authorities.

It is nonsensical to proclaim something as unbiblical simply because it was not around the time Jesus was... if that were true you should have as much an issue with computers as marriage licenses.
