Man... why are we so focused on the 'LAW' should we not be more focused on the 'SPIRIT and PROMISE' of God???  :)

No one is saying we can't keep certain customs and traditions. Where we are drawing the line, as Paul did in Galatians (which is not a misunderstanding) is when people say keeping these things makes us better Christians or holier than others. Whether I celebrate Sabbath on a Monday or a Friday has no bearing on my stance with God or how God treats me, for the spirit of the Torah has been observed. Whether I wear a kippot or choose not to does not matter, for so long as I recognize God as the head the spirit of the law has been observed. When you get people like Zayit comming in here telling us that to live holy we have to follow the letter of the law, that is when we turn to Galatians which is where Paul condemns the letter of the law and opts for the spirit of the law. There is no getting around this. The New Testament is full of examples of Jesus and the apostles affirming the spirit of the law but not the letter of the law. SO long as the spirit is observed, who cares?

I hear what you are saying. I think all of us need to fight legalism. No one should be made to feel like they are missing it if they don't observe Jewish customs. That is going overboard. I would just like to see people not condemn the Torah as they are fighting legalism.

As for the letter of the Torah. I keep the letter of the Torah, by not murdering. I also keep the spirit of the Torah by not hating. I keep the letter of the Torah by not by not committing adultery; I keep the spirit of the Torah by not lusting.

Keeping the Spirit of the Torah means that not only should we not commit certain sins, but neither should there be anything in our hearts that would cause us to lead us to those sins in the first place.

It becomes legalism when the letter takes precedence over the Spirit.

But to keep the letter you must follow the spirit first :)

One may commit adultry, but the sin was committed long before the act occured.

But what about issues such as the Sabbath? The law tells us we are to keep the Sabbath, yet the spirit of the law tells us that Jesus is the Sabbath and our rest is in Him. So should we continually be condemned by Zayit and co. for not resting on a Saturday? That's what's upsetting most of us. Is we're simply getting tired of being judged and condemned by her for not following her interpretation of the law.

I would hope that Zayit is not saying that we HAVE to keep the Seventh day of the week. That would be overstepping the pale of Scripture.

Believe it or not, at this point I'm ready to just throw my hands up and say "whatever!"

Jesus Christ has come into my life and transformed me into a new creature. I have been born again by His Spirit. I have been sealed unto the day of redemption.

Are we now going to try and improve upon that with observance of the Law?

So, is it "Jesus + observance of the Law" that now saves?

If anyone thinks so they nead to read the epistles of Galatians and Romans a few times.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Why does everyone mix Salvation with obedience? This I don't understand,

Please tell me what YOU think "If you love me keep my commandmenst" means to you.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Zayit, one thing to note here is that nobody is saying "break the law." When we say "you don't have to keep the law" it means for matters of attaining righteousness.

Someone who loves God will want to do what pleases God. It pleases God when we honor Him above anything else, do not covet, lie, etc.

Hence, the spirit of God in us conforms us to the image of Christ. Obedience to the will and nature of God is a byproduct of the work of the spirit within us.

Not a day goes by where I ask myself "did I observe the law of God today?"

However, not a day goes by where I don't ask myself, "is there anything I've done today that has offended God and brought separation between us? Is there anything that I need to confess and repent of before the Lord?"

That is the way we should be thinking.

SP Customs and traditions are what Yeshua did argue over. please show me where I ever said that being obedient to the walk makes you holier than others?

As far as the spirit of Torah, you cannot take something G-d made Holy and do it your own way, if that were so then gay marriages would be OK in his sight because they are married, nu?

Kippot have nothing to do with Torah either.

And since you addressed me specifically as coming in here, "telling you all" that to live holy you have to follow the letter of the law, I challenge you to show me where I ever said that. EVER. I know you don't believe these laws are still for today but that is a violation of #9 of the 10.

It seems to me that you think the "Spirit of the Law" means your spirit gets to interpret it and have a Burger King faith life, 'Have it your way' well I am sorry to break it to you, G-d isn't like that , His laws were good when he made them and they still are today. His laws are not to be folllowed in shadows or counterfeits, but in Truth.

I am the L-RD thy G-D who brought you out of Egypt the land of Slavery, you are to have no other gods before me.

How do you observe that in the spirit of the law?

See what I mean Shiloh? She's all about the letter of the law. If you don't follow the strict letter of the law then in her mind you don't follow it at all. This is what we are tired of getting accused of.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
