How to repent?

We are commanded to repent, so it isn't just something that God grants us at the new birth and then after that we don't ever do it again.  We all sin every day, so every day we need to repent.  The question is, how is it to be done?  We can feel sorrow, remorse and contrition for our sinful state inside our hearts, but that doesn't seem to be enough to actually CHANGE ourselves.  There should also be action on our part to initiate the necessary changes we need to make to not fall into the same sins again and again.  How do we go from repentance as a feeling inside ourselves to an outward behavioural change that corresponds to it?

God says that foundation is the key ...
1 Cor 3:11

11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

This of course is the essence of salvation and it is kept by God through The Son's finished work...
2 Cor 7:10

10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

It is why we are instructed to move on from such for it is kept by God Himself
Heb 6:1

6 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

For the salvation of God has been sealed
John 6:27

27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

2 Cor 1:21-22

21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;

22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

Now we labor to bring glory and honor to our Lord... (not) of the thing in which is used but in the faith that God 'IS' able to separate out from the thing used (the body and things of this world that pass away) and keep the faith that pleased Him so it is written

Heb 11:6

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

It is the ability to allow all that we have began in to be naught and to place Biblically generated faith sufficient to each task without holding to the thing we used in that faith! For we are being prepped toward the eternal state

Rev 21:1-5

21 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

We pray and ask for forgiveness in thought, word and deed.

Obviously.  Except when it is "no" for something you really need and God can't deliver on it.   Hmmm, maybe that is wrong.  ?  Don't you think God can answer all prayers in faith?  You are a Christian right?

God is not a Genie who appears when you rub a lamp. He answers prayers according to what His plan is for your life.
