joy is fruit of the spirit, what greater treasure can there be?

@Whyme Yes, the prospect of joy was an incentive for Christ. Some might say He didn't need any incentive, being assured of His resurrection and exaltation, but just like it was with Christ, joy is set before us because of our assurance of resurrection to eternal life with Christ forevermore.

Heb 12:1-2  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,  (2)  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Scripture gives details of how more and more people get to hear about the resurrection of Christ.

Thessalonica.

Paul preaches about the resurrection of Christ.

Act 17:1-3  Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews.  (2)  Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures,  (3)  explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, "This Jesus whom I preach to you is the Christ."

Athens.

Paul preaches about the resurrection of Christ.

Act 17:29-34  Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man's devising.  (30)  Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,  (31)  because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead."  (32)  And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, "We will hear you again on this matter."  (33)  So Paul departed from among them.  (34)  However, some men joined him and believed, among them Dionysius the Areopagite, a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

Jerusalem.

Whilst under arrest Paul uses his belief in the resurrection of the dead to divide the Sanhedrin.

Act 23:6-8  But when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, "Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee; concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!"  (7)  And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees; and the assembly was divided.  (8)  For Sadducees say that there is no resurrection—and no angel or spirit; but the Pharisees confess both.

Caesarea.

Paul testifies of his belief in the resurrection of the dead before Felix the Governor.

Act 24:10-21  Then Paul, after the governor had nodded to him to speak, answered: "Inasmuch as I know that you have been for many years a judge of this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself,  (11)  because you may ascertain that it is no more than twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem to worship.  (12)  And they neither found me in the temple disputing with anyone nor inciting the crowd, either in the synagogues or in the city.  (13)  Nor can they prove the things of which they now accuse me.  (14)  But this I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets.  (15)  I have hope in God, which they themselves also accept, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust.  (16)  This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men.  (17)  "Now after many years I came to bring alms and offerings to my nation,  (18)  in the midst of which some Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with a mob nor with tumult.  (19)  They ought to have been here before you to object if they had anything against me.  (20)  Or else let those who are here themselves say if they found any wrongdoing in me while I stood before the council,  (21)  unless it is for this one statement which I cried out, standing among them, 'Concerning the resurrection of the dead I am being judged by you this day.' "

Act 24:27  But after two years Porcius Festus succeeded Felix; and Felix, wanting to do the Jews a favor, left Paul bound.

When King Agrippa and Bernice came to Caesarea to greet Festus the resurrection of Christ from the dead is once again at the heart of the matter.

Act 25:18-21  When the accusers stood up, they brought no accusation against him of such things as I supposed,  (19)  but had some questions against him about their own religion and about a certain Jesus, who had died, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.  (20)  And because I was uncertain of such questions, I asked whether he was willing to go to Jerusalem and there be judged concerning these matters.  (21)  But when Paul appealed to be reserved for the decision of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I could send him to Caesar."

Act 26:19-29  "Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,  (20)  but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance.  (21)  For these reasons the Jews seized me in the temple and tried to kill me.  (22)  Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come—  (23)  that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead, and would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles."  (24)  Now as he thus made his defense, Festus said with a loud voice, "Paul, you are beside yourself! Much learning is driving you mad!"  (25)  But he said, "I am not mad, most noble Festus, but speak the words of truth and reason.  (26)  For the king, before whom I also speak freely, knows these things; for I am convinced that none of these things escapes his attention, since this thing was not done in a corner.  (27)  King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you do believe."  (28)  Then Agrippa said to Paul, "You almost persuade me to become a Christian."  (29)  And Paul said, "I would to God that not only you, but also all who hear me today, might become both almost and altogether such as I am, except for these chains."

The spiritual gifts available to Paul do not prevent him being persecuted, but enable him to be used by God in the unfolding of His Plan.

Paul's epistle to the Romans includes facts about the resurrection of Christ:

(1) Christ's resurrection shows the dynamic of the Son of God, the spirit of holiness so designating Him.

Rom 1:1-7  Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,  (2)  (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)  (3)  Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;  (4)  And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:  (5)  By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:  (6)  Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:  (7)  To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

(2) As a principle God selectively vitalises that which is dead.

Rom 4:16-17  Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,  (17)  (As it is written, I have made you a father of many nations,) before Him whom he believed, even God, who quickens the dead, and calls those things which be not as though they were.

(3) As an analogy the resurrection of Christ reminds us to reckon ourselves to be dead to sin but alive to God through Him.

Rom 6:4-11  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory * of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.  (5)  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:  (6)  Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.  (7)  For he that is dead is freed from sin.  (8)  Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:  (9)  Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dies no more; death has no more dominion over him.  (10)  For in that He died, He died unto sin once: but in that He lives, He lives unto God.  (11)  Likewise reckon you also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

When Paul percieved that the one part were Sadducees and the others Pharisees he cried out in the council,
Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee: concerning the hope of and resurrection of the dead, am I being judged.
Acts 23:6

The Sadducees say that there is no resurrection neither angel nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.
(both resurrection and angels/spirits)  Acts 23:8

And now I Paul stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers.  Acts 26:6

I WILL OPEN UP YOUR GRAVES AND BRING YOU UP OUT OF YOUR GRAVES. (a direct promise from God about resurrection, there is no other in scripture, Psalm 16 is about Davids resurrection [Jeremiah 30:9] which applies to Christ as well, but Ezekiel prophesies about the nations literal resurrection, a promise made to the fathers) Ezekiel 37:12

The Pharisees believed such scriptures were about actual resurrection, the Sadducees did not,
and the ideas and teachings of the Sadducees prevail to this day.

Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?  Acts 26:8

(5) Confession of the mouth and belief of the heart that God raised Christ from the dead appropriates righteousness and salvation.

But what says it? The word is nigh you, even in your mouth, and in your heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; (9) That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. (10) For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

(6) For the purpose of gathering both the living and the dead under His Lordship and Rule, Christ died and rose to life again.

Rom 14:7-10
For none of us lives to himself, and no man dies to himself. (8) For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. (9) For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living. (10) But why do you judge your brother? or why do you set at nought your brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
