We hear a lot about God and Job's sufferings. The book of Job has 42 chapters
and some 99% of the verses talk about Job's sufferings. However nobody
knows how long Job suffered and some interpreters think it was a relatively
short time. Some think Job suffered for a few months and others think Job
suffered only for days.

To the best of my knowledge all the events in the book of Job could have occurred
within 30 days. If so, then Job suffered a very short time.

But here is even better news: After Job suffered and endured his testing, God, in
His Mercy and Grace gave Job MORE than he had before he was tested, and then
God gave Job 140 years of the good life.

Its reasonable to believe {based on the narrative in Job 42} they were a happy and
blessed 140 years.

"The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part." Job 42:12

"After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children
to the fourth generation. And so Job died, an old man and full of years." Job 42:16-17

Bildad correctly predicted the happy restoration of Job when he said:
"He {God} will yet fill your mouth with laughter
and your lips with shouts of joy." Job 8:12

So?

So God's Mercy and Grace restored Job and he had MORE blessings than
he previously enjoyed and then God gave Job 140 happy good years. And
even more important than that, God gave Job eternal life in Heaven. Job was
an Old Testament believer that reaped the benefits of the blessing of John 3:16
which says that God loved the world and gave His one and only Son that whoever
believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

God restored Job and God has a Plan to restore the world. God has a Plan to
fix the world that men have messed up. What kind of Plan is it? The Cross. What
kind of Person is God? The kind of Person that will die on a Cross because He
loves the world and desires to restore it. So what kind of Person is God? The kind
of Person that leads from the front, where the pain is.

Job is good man.  Anyone and everyone should be able to sympathize with him.  However he does fall into the trap of defending his human righteousness with God whose righteousness is beyond human reach, and is the source of all righteousness.  Jobs friends don't help him at all by telling him he sinned, and is being punished.  The lesson for Job seems to be whatever righteousness you have, pales in comparison to God, and whatever righteousness you have, can and will be multiplied by God.

James talks about the patience of Job. He said let patience do her perfect work in you.  The husbandman has LONG patience for the rain.

In takes a long long time for patience to don its perfect work in you.  How can you stand complete perfect in just a matter of month.

While the scripture is silent about the length of time Job suffered, the implication in James suggest it was a long time.  His captivity only began to turn after he prayed for his three friends. It was only the beginning of his breakthrough.

my guess:

Job lived for 140 years after his trials. If Job lived for 140 years after his trials, then God also gave Job double the years to live. If God gave him double to live, Job would have been 70 at the time his trials began .This being the case, he would have lived to be 210 years old. Job live a long life. He saw his sons and  his son sons even to 4th generation.

The indication is that God restored back to Job all the years in captivity and also gave him more years to live on both totalling 140 years. We don’t know how many years the captivity was, but it would have been LONG- a good 40 years or even 70 years.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
