Im not wanting to criticize others, my point is that if they have errors how are they a better teacher than myself? By me being a teacher I mean teaching myself not others. People say I need a teacher but I don't think so. They say I need someone to weed out my secret sins, but those things come from God. What did James say? If a person lacks wisdom ask God for it. The sword of the spirit discerns my heart, no man can do that.

Certain people will have experience or wisdom you may not. I think it was Josheb in and earlier post who said that we can and should learn from those who have walked before us. It can help avoiding the ditch completely.

Thats why I come here, seeking God's wisdom. I don't believe in teachers though. I know that sounds unbiblical but is it? The Bible says in these last days people will heap teachers to themselves to tickle their ears.

But sometimes we can mistake irrelevancies with errors.

Some teachers will focus on things that either don't matter or are not critical issues, which is what I think Teddy was saying

It depends on the error. If it is a minor or non-salvific issue, then in the name of fellowship, can you look past it?

Bottom line when people are involved. You are not going to get completely objective teaching. Even if we do everything right, we will apply our own emphasis on the word.  Whether its people,  emotions, lack of emotions what ever what we hear from any preacher, if it is 100% biblical is going to come from their focus, their point of view.

We are the treat that word like a the treasure buried in the field, we take the whole field, sift out the dirt and find the treasure

But as to why its important  to hear many points of view is because we all only have one. this goes back to my mountain analogy, where you can look at a mountain from the North, South, East and West  and see a different view of the same mountain. Hearing other peoples perspective, then taking what they say, searching the scriptures and being led by the Holy Spirit, you can either expand your view....or reject it.

Just realize none of us have the complete picture

Yes, false teachers will abound, but let's look at a couple other times teachers are mentioned...

1 Corinthians 12:27-29

27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues[d]? Do all interpret? 31 Now eagerly desire the greater gifts

So teachers are part of the church, placed there by God.

Quote

Hebrews 5:11-14

1 We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. 12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

Seems to suggest that we can and should all be able to be teachers.

Paul, in Timothy, calls himself a teacher to the Gentiles.

Just Joking here, but at least you can find like words for why Baptist and Pentecostal arrived at their Denominational Namesake.  You can find the words Baptist and Pentecostal within our very Bible.   Even 7 Day and Nazarene can be found.

It's the Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist, Wesleyan [John Wesley], Lutheran [Martin Luther], Mormon [Latter Day Aint's], Charismatic, etc {Names} that I don't find the correlation.

It's about the [SAME] as trying to convince me the Apostles literally wrote the Didache' that READS like Roman Catholic Church 101 and uses [ONLY] Catholic words like Eucharist, and too many others to care to list.

This is talking of those who twist scripture to back up sinful lifestyles, not about those who seek His teachings.  2 Timothy 4:1-5 is the scripture you were referring to, so let's take a closer look.

I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.  But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

Notice that those who do so "will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires" - meaning they don't want the truth, but are looking for ways to make themselves feel better about their sin.

You need to ask yourself why would God give us the office of teaching if He did not want us to have teachers?  1 Corinthians 12:27-21 tells us:

Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.  And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.  Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?  Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?  But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.

Scripture does not contradict itself.  Just be careful who you sit under.  As shown you earlier, be as those from Berea spoken of in Acts 17:10-15 and take what you are told and place it beside scripture to see if it is true or not.

Not for nothing but some of them can be found in the Original greek.

In the New Testament, a presbyter (Greek πρεσβύτερος: "elder") is a leader of a local Christian congregation. The word derives from the Greek presbyteros, which means elder or senior.

The English term charisma is from the Greek χάρισμα (khárisma), which means "favor freely given" or "gift of grace".

Episcopalian comes from the word episcopal, derived from the Greek word epískopos, meaning "overseer" and from which we get the English word bishop.

Just Saying ;)

Saul was a diamond in the rough. Jesus had to come to him directly to knock some sense into him - and rename him Paul.

We all have different paths to follow, but the message to Timothy about all scripture being profitalble is as true today as it was then. And scripture is basically anything written or produced by someone else other than yourself. And if one prayerfully studies the bible and other "scripture" (literally means "something written down"), including podcasts and videos, I believe one will grow in the Lord. I also believe one will change their position on things they've believed since they attended VBS as a child from less than ideal teachers.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
