Jesus came because through him we not only have life, but we can have life to the fullest extent, because we are living as God intended us to live, in his service.

John 10:9+10.

So I decided it was more important to enjoy life.

The best that people can do here on earth is to eat, drink, and enjoy life,

because these joys will help them do the hard work God gives them here on earth.”

Ecclesiates 8:15

Be truly glad.

There is wonderful joy ahead!

Interesting, this is one of those times when I needed to take a breath and think about it.

My first reaction was  to immediately jump on the "he who seeks to save his life will lose it" track

But the more I thought about it, the more I realize this is my philosophy.  Enjoy the occasional Islands that pop up when you are sailing the troubled sea of life. Take a moment, relax, refresh, enjoy the happy times, for they are what sustain us in the hard times

It’s obvious by His Creation and our make up, that the Lord delights in us enjoying life.

I totally agree with you.  Seeing God in His nature is what prompted me to go through my many nature photos and add an appropriate verse. We can observe the evidence of our Creator...everywhere, if we just look closely.

Hmmm, so that's where that phrase "eat, drink, and be merry" comes from. :)  ...but let’s see what else Solomon concluded:

[16] When I applied mine heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also there is that neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes:)

And this is his conclusion of the matter:

[17] Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labour to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea further; though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.

There is no way that the man (or woman) who walks under the sun (in the flesh), no matter how wise he or she is, can know plans God has for us.  I think that can only come through His revelation which He makes known to those who love Him.

Note:

Solomon just said: "Seek, and ye shall not find."  Eccles. 8:17

But Jesus Christ said: "Seek, and ye shall find"  Mat 7:7.

So.  If we leave God out of the picture, we can seek all our lives, but it will be a never-ending game of hide and seek because we’ll never find what we’re looking for—peace of mind.  But if we seek Him first, then we’ll discover all the blessings that our Father wants us to have.

Are you aware that your audience are Christians. Brothers and sisters indwelled by the same Spirit and Life as yourself?

Assuming this then, what point are you making above?

Hey there, Alive :)   Well let’s see... what’s my point?  What’s not clear about it?

If we leave God out of the picture, we can seek all our lives, but it will be a never-ending game of hide and seek because we’ll never find what we’re looking for—peace of mind.  But if we seek Him first, then we’ll discover all the blessings that our Father wants us to have.

I disagree with you that all of our audience is Christian.  Many (guests included) are seeking, and isn’t seeking the major theme of Ecclesiastes?

Do you have a problem with my post, @Alive?

I have never known a born from above believer to have left God out of the picture. This is indeed impossible, because God Himself is faithful to His adopted children who He has given His very Life and sealed.

what you imply is not consistent with His Nature, intent and promises.

@Riverwalker

For me when it comes to "REST", I find my weekly Sabbath in Christ to more than refresh me, and re-energize me, as I abstain from any work on Sunday, as God calls us to, but that's another topic for another time, as many don't agree.

I have looked forward to that rest God called me to for over 12 years, and find a great relief, in especially hard times,  but also in the good times when life is so easy and enjoyable and BUSY.

It is my "ISLAND OF REST" in a sometimes chaotic life that comes to us periodically.

God bless

@Alive

I don't agree with the way your approaching @electlady and your tone is strong enough to me that you should back off from being so CAUSTIC" sounding, and allow her the same GRACE that our Lord affords each of us.

MORE LOVE and KINDNESS would be greatly appreciated.

Always in Christ

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
