The Word must be the Holy Spirit? Or is it the written word of God? And do we need to listen in order to hear the Spirit judging our heart? Or does the Lord speak in such a way that everyone hears Him?

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to [a]judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Hi Whyme,

I wanted to share this verse:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

For me I don’t always hear but I feel through the Holy Spirit in me. If I do something wrong the Holy Spirit convicts me through feeling it’s wrong, and I feel the same as if someone actually said why did you do that, you know that’s wrong. I believe our conscious has a lot to do with it too telling us when we are right and wrong, and my conscious always lines up with the word of God not just what I want. That’s my experience.

The Holy Spirit and my conscious also reward me when I have done right. I feel it the same as if someone said I’m proud of you, you did the right thing.

There are times that I actually hear Gods voice, but not as often as the feelings from Gods Spirit and my conscious as I live this life.

I am glad God can see my heart no matter what I actually do.

Thank you. I wasnt necessarily referring to an audible voice, sorry for not wording my post properly.

These scriptures come to mind with this:

Isa 28:17

Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

Zec 4:10

For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

2Co 3:18

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Jas 1:23-25

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

God’s word here seems to be spoken of as being like a plumbline of perfection against which we are judged, as well as a mirror by which we can measure ourselves and see our faults.

Heb 4:12,13 (VW)

12 For the Word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13 And there is no creature that is not revealed in His presence, but all things are naked and laid bare to the eyes of Him to whom we must give answer.

"Word of God" here refers to the Lord Jesus Christ (it speaks of "His presence", in verse 13).

John 1:1 (VW) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

1 John 5:7 (VW) For there are three that bear witness in Heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

Eph 6:17

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Rev 1:16

And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

Rev 2:12

And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;

Rev 2:16

Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

I don' think the Word is the Holy Spirit. I think the Word is what the Holy Spirit is telling us.

I don't think the Word is confined to the written Word of God. I think the Word of God includes what the Holy Spirit tells us every day.

We need to be listening always to the Lord, though I don't think he spends a lot of time judging our hearts. I think he's more into teaching and having fellowship with us.

I think the Lord speaks in ways that we can all hear him.

God judges and the result is we learn. Someone is judging the intents and thoughts of my heart. So who is it? If its not the Lord Himself then its me, reading scripture and judging myself. I guess thats possible but it would not result in perfect judgment unless the Lord was involved, in my opinion.

The Lord is our teacher, so he has to judge. That doesn't mean he spends all his time judging us.

I never said he spent all his time doing that.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
