Spiritual Gifts..

Well, recently I have been praying fervently for the gift of Prophecy, but whenever I ask God's voice tells me, "You already have it" and this was frustrating me until I talked it over with the Youth Minister at my church, and she said, "Well, you get visions/dreams from God, God often speaks to you, and you have made statements about the future befroe, and now God is telling you you DO have the gift of prophecy, so maybe you do already have it" and she said now I should pray that my gift all works for the glory of the Lord, so I am.

What are your gifts?

Matthew 6:33 says - But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Even though in context this refers to the provision of food and clothing...however i also believe that it also refers to every good gift that comes from the Lord!!!

I am not exactly sure what my gifts are yet... I guess the Lord will show me in time.. but I thought the gift of prophecy had ceased..

Its good to desire spiritual gifts. It says so in the bible.

I have the gift of prophecy by dreams, and a good descerning of spirits. as of the other gifts, im not sure yet. All i know is a scripture God gave me that i hold dear to me and know will come to pass which has healing and exhortation involved. Isnt it exiting that God can use us to show his Glory? As long as we remember to seek God first, then all things will be added unto us.

I have the gift of prophecy, actuall I walk in the office of a Prophet. But if you have told you already have it, it just need to be trained/perfected. What all do you know about propecy? I have learned that it is not what we think or perceive it to be. And when God needs this gift to be used and you are willing it will work. We can quench the Spirit also the gifts working.

I have discerning of spirits, divers kinds of tongues, interpretation of tongues (these are the ones I operate in frequently) I have never (that I know of) been used to for the others.

Hi roc,

I've always been curious as to how the gift of interpreting of tongues worked.

Can you understand what any one is saying in their own native tongue? Or could you communicate effectively with someone else in their own native tongue?

I'm just curious if that's how it works.

And if it isn't that way- then how does it work?

Just curious.

Acts 2:17-18:

This is how I have experienced interpretation of tongues. First of all it has to be Spirit led. If the Lord is speaking through someone in a language unknown to me, be it foriegn or what is called the unknown tongue, and it is for the congregation or church as a whole, or me personally. I hear in the Spirit in English. I mean my natural ear hear what everyone else hears but it seems to be transformed/interpreted in my spiritual ear, as if it is plainly being spoken. I prayed for this gift, I have never had problems speaking in tongues but my understanding was unfruitful to me. Now when I am praying in tongues a understand what my spirit is praing for or saying or asking most of the time.
