Yod, thanks for your comments. I can indentify with the blessings you have found in observing the Sabbath. I grew up keeping the Sabbath, but in a legalistic sort of way. I belonged to a church that taught you had to keep the Sabbath and holy days in order to obtain salvation, along with a belief in Jesus Christ.

However, the "Jesus" part was secondary to the observance of days and making sure we were "doing" all that we were supposed to do for God in order to "earn" his favor.

This is where the danger lies. If it is done voluntarily, as in your case, that's fine and I am sure you will experience many blessings, but the minute it is turned into a "have to do it or else" type of thing, look out because those same people will be demanding 30% of your income for first, second, and third tithe. (as I also experienced in my lifetime of manmade religion).

Hi Fishman,

Good post!!

Thank you for your comments, how do you live your Christian life now, if you don't mind me asking,do you still abide with eating no pork and such?

Did your parents become Christians and were they Jewish?.

Thanks,Angels

I hold no day above any other. I attend regular services on Sunday and also a Bible Study on Friday nights with a Messianic congregation because there is some great teaching there. I am with the Lord every single day of the week and don't care what day another brother in the Lord worships on.

Pork? Hey, I enjoy a pepperoni pizza every now and then and I don't feel condemened when I do savor it because the Lord is not concerned about such matters. Would I eat pork every meal just because I am not under the law anymore? No, because that would be stupid for health reasons.

Think of the law thing this way: when I was a child, my parents threatened to spank me if I went across the street without looking both ways first. That threat of pain kept me from disobeying. Today, I am 29 and no one is going to spank me for not looking both ways, but I still do because it is just plain smart -- not because my mom is behind me with a paddle! Same with the law and Christians.

God bless you all.

Thank you for sharing ,your thinking is the same in these topics as mine, now and then pork is all right, but if you eat it too often its plain not good for you, so is red meat, its all right within reason.

Also correct me if I'm wrong, were pigs dirtier in those earlier days and fatter?

Alot of meat these days have hormones in them which is not too good, I guess I'm sort of a health freak, I don't think we should just put everything in our body, just for health reason, God gave us our body to take care of.

I would love to go to Jewish messianic meetings if they were here where I live, but there is none.

We will have this Sunday a speaker coming to our church who works with Jewish people . I don't know which organistaion he is with, he used to be with Friends of Israel.

(Isn't it good to know we are saved by grace? In no way could we be possible good enough to deserve Salvation? PTL!! :D

Amen brother. I'm with you there. Our Father wants our obediance, our devotion and our love. He longs for us to submit to Him on any day and every day. Our hearts shouldn't know what day of the week it is or even what time it is.

Thank you Yod,

What would their digestive system have to do with clean or unclean?

I never heard this before.

I knew that eating strangled meat is sin and also eating blood of the animal, there is a certain meat what they make from the blood....yuk!!

Food from things contaminated by idols makes comman sense to me not to eat that ,it speaks for itself, but does the Bible not say somewhere also that it means nothing and that we can eat it if our mind not condems us for it?

I remember a Hindu lady who offered me left over rice which she offered

first to the god of the water.

Of course I refused it and she understood.

You made a interesting point that the rabbi had to be also the butcher to make sure the blood was properly drained. I wonder these days would they hang those animals long enough to drain the meat?

Sometimes I consider maybe to eat no meat at all anymore, its not good for lots of health reasons.

Fish might be a better choice ...

Thank you very much for your insight...!!

Yiod,

Very interesting, but I believe the pork they raise these day is fed different, but still its sort of the same thing, your body will attack it as something bad? I didn't know your body has to work so hard for it to get it cleansed from such things. I never thought about it that deep.

I do read alot of health stuff but must have skipped this.

Thank you dear friend, your sister in Christ,Angels

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
