Blanket statements are a really bad idea. I used to do street drugs before I believed, and the two are apples and oranges. Just about everything causes cancer or some other disease these days - at least in California if you read the labels.

Oddly enough the Bible does not condemn alcohol - intoxication, though, is roundly condemned throughout scripture. When I became a believer the Lord lead me away from the booze, dope, and cigarettes. Those three things would've killed me the quickest. That's an ongoing process called sanctification.

If someone feels the Lord is leading them to abstain from certain foods/drinks they should follow what the Lord wants them to do - that does not make it a moral imperative for every believer, only that individual.

If you drink it excessively.

Many things are harmful if overindulged, even water.

One or two cups a day is beneficial.

I developed eczema at the age of 60. One of the recommendations of my dermatologist is to drink 2 cups of coffee daily. So yes, there IS something good about coffee. I found an article about it for you. P.S. I am over 60 and on no medication, including blood pressure meds.

He was doing some stunt on the motorcycle, standing up on it while it was going down the road

First, sorry to hear about the accident.  Condolences to all who knew him.

People see this stunt on t.v or online, and then they want to do it too.  The scary part is where they choose to try it for the first time.  Guess where they do this the most often?

On a highway, and in the middle of traffic.  There is no shortage  of video's of people doing this.  Please folks, don't try this, especially on a public street or highway, if you fall; you take a chance on getting run over by a car that is behind you. Or you may end up in a traffic lane of oncoming cars.

Thank you, Appy.  You are right! I was talking with a customer this week about this and she said a couple weeks ago, she was driving on the interstate in Cleveland, OH, and like 40-50 of these bikers went by her, all doing stunts....

I always told my kids, if you are going to die early, do it risking something for the Lord...not showing off!  My husband and I had friends years ago who smuggled Bibles into Communist Countries....that is something work risking your life for.

It's been a rough week.  Sunday morning our son came to our house to help us get ready for Winter.  We heat with wood and he hauled a big tractor trailer around the back of the house for us, so we have something dry to store our firewood in....

Well, before he started, he told my husband and I he had to tell us something...I could sense it was something very bad.  Our son is a tough man and I don't believe I've seen him tear up in years. He said the night before, two of the guys who work for him in his tree business were coming over to he and his wife house to play some games with them after Sabbath....on their motorcycles.  The one boy was 18.  He had had 2 beers. He was doing some stunt on the motorcycle, standing up on it while it was going down the road...lost control and hit a tree. Broke his spine in 5 places and all kinds of bone fragments in his brain.  The other guy on the other motorcycle watched it all happen, called 9-1-1....  And night before last, he died.  He was only 18, an only child of his mother. Just makes us so, so sad. He was not a Christian. Our son is taking it very hard...this is the first time he's had someone close to him die.

So many times young people think they are invincible...and they find out too late, that they are not.

I so long for Jesus to come, to bring an end to all the sad things happening in our world.

Indeed, it is a tragedy when people thinks that they need to show up in order to prove that they are important.

The thing about coffee, chocolate and nicotine, is that neither causes a person to lose their ability to make sound decisions. Neither causes people to have automobile accidents. There are no scriptures against drinking alcohol. What is does repeatedly say is …. don't get drunk. A person is to be in control of their senses.

Telling people what they can or can not eat or drink, as well as attempting to make others feel guilty for eating or drinking certain foods, amounts to legalism verbatim.

Colossians 2:16
Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink,

Colossians 2:20-23
Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules:  “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”?  These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings.  Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
