4,200 physicians, scientists sign declaration for early treatment of COVID-19, against gov’t intrusion

Earlier this month a physicians’ and medical scientists’ declaration was written by a team under the leadership of Dr. Robert Malone, the main inventor of the mRNA technology and a strong critic of the current official response to COVID-19. This text, which defends physicians’ right to treat corona patients with the best knowledge of early treatments and against aggressive intrusion by governmental entities, has now gained 4,200 signatures from other physicians and medical scientists.

Speaking about the official suppression of early treatments of COVID-19, this declaration states: “This is not medicine. This is not care. These policies may actually constitute crimes against humanity.”

As LifeSite reported, Dr. Malone originally met with a group of physicians in Puerto Rico to author such a declaration. Dr. Heather Gessling and Dr. Ryan Cole were among the physicians who met in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in early September. In a video, several of the participants of that smaller gathering speak up, among them Dr. Malone and Dr. Cole, as well as Dr. Pierre Kory. It would be interesting to see how many of the 4200 are physicians and the specialties of the scientists. If all 4200 were physicians, this would represent 0.056% of doctors in the world. The resolution is extremely dismissive and insulting to the vast majority of doctors that are doing their best to fight every day to keep people alive. If you look at survival rates in hospitals back in early 2020 versus today, it is very clear that doctors have learned on the fly and have considerably improved methods for treating COVID patients.

You make good points and attempt to post rationally and with logic. I appreciate that.

Regarding the small percentage of medical persons engaging in that particular letter being dismissive of the mutually agreed statements; I have a problem with that, in and of itself. Often in human experience, a minority opinion and or actions are correct while the vast majority is not.

In this case, there are lots of dynamics involved that affect behavior and choices.

Something just occurred to me by way of comparison. What percentage of the 535 members of Congress are faithful to serve the constituents rather than enriching themselves--which would surely affect their choices?

I suggest the majority are not consistently faithful (I'm being kind)---does that make the minority wrong?

Examples abound.

Which ever side of this issue we find ourselves, IMO we ought to attempt to set bias aside and review all relevance---rocking a large boat full of people generally upsets the occupants.

Yes, this is frequently correct. A majority view does not necessarily mean a correct view.

Physicians have been paying a great deal of attention to treatment studies, but information is still being processed and evaluated. Treatments are improving as seen by patient survival rates, but yes - maybe some study will recommend a treatment that is not currently in use. However, the 4200 are basically saying, "I know what the studies are showing, but the rest of you 99%+ are doing it all wrong. Not only are you doing it wrong, you aren't even being proper doctors." That view is questionable on both fronts.

Yes, absolutely. During a deadly pandemic is a very bad time to let biases lead decision-making.

A name for this phenomena is called the Pareto Principle, or the 80/20 principle.   The Pareto Principle works in time management, and in sales, project optimization efforts and a myriad of different and interesting ways, but it is also called the Law of the Vital Few.   I would say the vital few in this case are doing the meaningful thinking, meaning the 4,200 doctors and scientists in the OP are the valid ones, and the brains of the operation.  Besides, all they are suggesting is that early treatment saves lives, and that they want to treat early without interference. 

This list of signers is growing in numbers, daily.  I don't think it's just 4,200, today.
