Europe not seeking to rival United States with global role: EU's Solana

The European Union's plans to strive for a stronger global role is not an attempt to step on the United State's toes, the bloc's foreign policy representative Javier Solana said on Thursday.

"Let's be clear: Europe would be foolish to strive for a global role in rivalry with the United States," Solana said in a speech in Poland's western city of Wroclaw.

"No partnership survives rivalry among its partners in the long-run and the Atlantic partnership is irreplaceable. Acting together the European Union and the United States have been and will be a formidable force for good in the world."

"But does this mean the European Union should refrain from becoming a more credible actor on the world scene and a more influential partner in the American partnership? No," he said.

Poland, the biggest of 10 countries on course to join the bloc on May 1, is a close ally of the United States, and has been given responsibility by Washington for running one of Iraq's four post-war zones.

The strong backing of Warsaw and other eastern European members-to-be of Washington's hardline stance towards the Iraq of Saddam Hussein drew strong criticism from EU members France and Germany, which charged it with disloyalty.

The rift highlighted the EU's own foreign policy divisions.

Solana said the bloc must unify its positions to pack a punch on the world stage.

"Only a strong and united Europe will be able to carry out its share of responsibility in the Atlantic partnership," he said. "We know the price of failure: a disunited Europe will carry no weight, neither in the eyes of the world, nor in the eyes of our American allies."

The above article explains precisely why I believe that France and Germany may be two of the three horns that the little horn will have to subdue and bring under his control. These two rebellious nations were going against the very core of what the EU has built their foundation on, which was the first two treaties (Brussels and NATO).

For now, they appear to be coming back in line, but for how long and what price?

Solana, Solana, Solana

Perhaps I don't need to write a commentary. The title says it all, Solana, Solana, Solana.

Here are three news reports about the EU's High Representative, Javier Solana. And, we students of Bible prophecy should pay attention. The first report is about what Solana had to say about the Israeli government continuing to build a security barrier in the West Bank. Solana says:

Of course the reason we students of prophecy should pay attention to Solana's remarks is because they clearly reveal his plans for dividing God's land.

The second report tells us Solana has met again with the EU leaders in Rome just before the Inter-governmental Conference. At this closed-door meeting it is reported Solana discussed EU/US relations in the aftermath of the Iraqi war (Read about it here>>>> http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/s9588...111425.vffjd1gs

But if you've been following the news, you know what this means. It means they were once again discussing Solana's "wider Middle East" policy. A primary part of this policy links EU support in Iraq with the EU also getting what it wants in the Mediterranean.

This brings us to the third report about the Inter-governmental Conference. It appears the very first matter on the agenda will be the issue of the new EU Foreign Minister. Here's my point: Most don't realize, as far as foreign policy is concerned, this new Foreign Minister may end up more powerful than the new Council President. The reason this could happen is because there is a battle raging over the new Council Presidency. The smaller states mostly want to leave it like it is, the larger states want to change it. The result could be a compromise leading to a weak EU Presidency and a strong EU Foreign Minister.

And the way it looks now, guess who that Foreign Minister might be?

Yeah, he's slick alright.

But just wait 'til you read Part Two of "DANIEL'S LITTLE BIG HORN." It starts out with a "BANG." That's why I stopped Part One where I did, because I didn't want to end it in the middle of the big bang. One of the things I talk about in it though, is just how much power he really has in his three high positions, and then he also has an ace in the hole that most people are not even aware of. Part Two promises to grab peoples attention, as Part One was merely an introduction. Originally, I wasn't even planning on doing it in two parts until someone in my church started begging for just a little taste of it. I'll probably change the name of it, and put the two parts together in my next thread. Until next time, God bless!!!

Protests at EU summit in Rome erupt in violence

Some 70,000 trade unionists and anti-globalists marched through the streets of Rome on Saturday (4 October) whilst EU heads of State and Government were meeting to discuss a new EU Constitution.

The protests were not only against the Constitution but also against the Berlusconi government's labour and pension reforms.

Late on Saturday the demonstrations erupted in violence and police used teargas to prevent demonstrators from getting near the EU summit in Southern Rome.

Interior Minister Giuseppe Pisanu blamed the clashes on a hardcore group of protesters.

"Thanks to those peaceful demonstrators and the self-control and professionalism of our security forces, violence and damage was kept to a minimum", he said in a statement, quoted by Reuters.

The clash was the first major incident between the Italian police and anti-globalisation protesters since July 2001, when protests against a Group of Eight summit in Genoa left one demonstrator dead and many protesters injured.

End-times Technically Arranged

Often I'm asked why I focus on certain people or events. For example, recently I was asked my reason for writing so much about the EU's High Representative, Javier Solana. The person asked, "What is it that you know about Solana that I'm not seeing?"

I appreciate it when someone takes the time to ask such questions. You see, each time I receive such an inquiry, I find myself re-examining what I'm doing here on FulfilledProphecy.Com. And, that is healthy both for me and my readers.

In reply to why I focus so much on Solana, after thinking it through for a while I came up with this answer: "The way I see it, I'm not actually focusing on the man, I'm focusing on the prophecies."

Some readers may not see the difference. But, when you think about it, there is a big difference. It's far safer to have your focus on God's word rather than people or events. People and events are passing things, but God's word will endure forever. And, the subject of end-times prophecy is a major part of God's word.

However, the questions remains if I've understood Bible prophecy correctly. And, only time will provide a definite answer to that question. In the mean time, I'll continue reporting the news as I believe it could relate to the fulfillment of prophecy.

This brings us to today's news. And when I read it, I had to laugh. The EUobserver is reporting that, although there aren't supposed to be any changes made to Valery Giscard d'Estaing's Draft Constitution, it may be technically arranged (Read about it here>>>> http://www.euobserver.com/index.phtml?sid=9&aid=12956

It's been a while since I've mentioned Euro-spin. Euro-spin occurs when the officials in Brussels say one thing and do just the opposite. For example, they say they're not creating a European army, but they are. They say they're not creating a rival organization to NATO, but they are. Now they're saying they're not changing the new, super EU's Draft Constitution -- it's only being technically "arranged." That's Euro-spin at its finest!

How does this fit into prophecy? The EUobserver reporter goes on to state:

There is a possibility for France and Germany to drop the wish of having a "mutual defense clause," that the text includes now. This is a compromise that they would have to make to the UK which has accepted the Paris and Berlin plans in regards to European defense.

Here's how this may fit into prophecy. You see, France and Germany are pushing for the EU's defense apparatus to be something completely new and independent of NATO. They also want a mutual defense clause for all of the 25 EU member states. The problem is, such a new mutual defense clause would effect the modified Brussels Treaty that currently binds the 10 Western European Union nations together in a mutual defense clause.

In other words, if the Draft Constitution isn't changed to eliminate France and Germany's mutual defense clause for the new, super EU, it could break up the 10 nation alliance. And, according to prophecy, I don't think that's going to happen.

In fact, I think we may be seeing the end-times being "technically arranged."

Solana Flexes As EU Squirms

Even if current and future EU heads can finally agree in Rome on their Draft Constitution, their new, super EU still has a long way to go before becoming a reality. You see, before the Constitution of Rome can go into force it will have to be ratified by all 25 EU member states. In other words, even after being accepted by the EU heads, it will still have to be accepted by all the folks back home. And, if the mood on the European street stays as it is now, this may end up being a mission impossible (Read about it here>>>> http://www.euobserver.com/index.phtml?sid=9&aid=12985

However, as I've been reporting, the EU isn't heading down only one track. At the same time EU heads on one track are working on the governmental structure for the new, super EU, they are also on a second track working on its foreign policy machinery. And, the second track doesn't appear to be giving them the same difficulty as is the first track.

Even as the EU's leaders on the first track are squirming in frustration and uncertainty, the EU's leader on the second track, High Representative Javier Solana, has enough confidence to begin flexing his power.

According to this report from Brussels, Solana is laying down the law in the Balkans. He told Belgrade and Pristina that either they play alone with his wishes, or they can kiss any hope for future membership to the EU good-bye (Read about it here>>>> http://www.b92.net/english/news/index.php?...style=headlines

This little article should be a clear warning to us. You see, the Balkans was the beginning of what I call Solana World. As then head of NATO, Solana was the person who gave the orders to beginning the NATO bombing of Serbia. He did it without UN approval and against international law at the time. How did Solana get away with it? By changing international law to permit what he called, "humanitarian interventions."

But, the Balkans was only the beginning of Solana's foreign policy strategy. After stabilizing the Balkans, his next target was to be the Middle East. That's why this next report should concern us. As the Bush administration is moving away from implementing the road map, Solana is stepping to the plate. In a compelling speech before the EU Parliament, Solana is asking the EU to stand firm for the creation of a Palestinian state by 2005 (Read about it here>>>> http://www.euobserver.com/index.phtml?sid=9&aid=12989

Here's my point: While the EU leaders on the first track are fighting among themselves, the democratic deficit in the EU remains -- as California's new governor Schwarzenegger recently said -- big enough to drive his Hummer through. At the same time, the EU leaders on the second track, under the leadership of Solana, are making great headway.

Question: Does Solana own a Hummer too?

It's Time To Look Up

As I read today's news reports about China and the European Union, I recalled some things Jesus said about the signs of the end-times. Jesus said:

But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near (Luke 21: 28 New American Standard Bible).

Yet, that wasn't all Jesus had to say about this. Only a few verses later He also said:

Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all things take place (Luke 21:32)

Jesus said we're to lift up our heads when we see these things begin to take place. And, this naturally brings us to the question: What things?

Here we can easily go wrong. Since our subject is Bible prophecy, the things Jesus wanted us to watch for are the fulfillment of the end-times prophecies. And Jesus' words imply there is an event that will signal the beginning of their fulfillment.

I think this first event is revealed in the 12th chapter of the book of Revelation. And, I believe this event is the sudden appearance of the woman -- the rebirth of the nation Israel. You see, at the time Revelation was written in 95 AD, Israel no longer existed as a nation and the temple had been destroyed. So, in chapter 12 we learn about the mother of all end-times signs, the rebirth of Israel. And I believe when this event occurs, all the other signs of prophecy will soon follow. The Apostle John wrote:

And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; and she was with child; and she cried out, being in labor and pain to give birth (Revelation 1:1-2).

However, there is another sign we are to watch for. John continued:

Then another sign appeared in heaven, and behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads where seven diadems (Revelation 12:3).

This great dragon represents Satan and the seven Gentile kingdoms he has, and will, use against Israel and God's people. And, it is commonly believed the seventh head of this dragon will be a revival of the old Roman Empire under 10 kings -- which is the meaning of the 10 horns.

In our next story we learn how China is seeing what's going on in this new, super EU for what it actually is, the rebirth of the old Roman Empire (Read about it here>>>> http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml...14/ixworld.html

What am I saying? Not only have we already seen the first great sign of end-times prophecy of the woman -- the rebirth of Israel, now we're seeing the second great sign of the dragon -- the revival of the Roman Empire.

In other words, it's not only time to look up, it's past time to look up.

Saw the headlines where we are the only nation that stood with Israel on their building of the wall in the EU vote. Seems they are quite mad at us. Guess we'll see what happens when they become too much of a burdensome stone, hu?
