Solana Replace Prodi?

Experience should have warned me. I should have expected it. Just when I thought I had things in the EU all figured out, something unexpected happened.

According to this report, British PM Tony Blair is meeting with other EU leaders about the possibility of giving Javier Solana Romano Prodi's post as president of the EU Commission (Read about it here)>>>> http://www.euobserver.com/?sid=9&aid=16427

My first reaction was no way. Compared to the powerful new Foreign Minister post being proposed for Solana, to just become the next Commission president would be a step backwards. So, what's going on here?

Perhaps this next report sheds light on this startling news. The EUobserver is reporting the incoming Dutch EU presidency is concerned things are moving too fast in the EU and wants to put the brakes on the integration process (Read about it here)>>>> http://www.euobserver.com/?sid=9&aid=16433In other words, the Dutch are getting cold feet.

It appears that old conflict between those who want the EU to remain a club of independent nation states and those who wish to turn the EU into a single federally controlled superstate hasn't gone away. Now, with the new EU presidency, it's flaring up again.

You see, France and Germany are in the EU superstate camp. That's why they've been pushing for Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt to become the next Commission president. Verhofstadt is also a federalist and wants to create a single European superstate.

On July 1 the Dutch EU presidency begins. This means the anti-federalists factions will have their time at the helm. It stands to reason these factions would attempt to steer the EU beast in their direction. And since Solana himself once said the EU would never become a superstate, it would become a super power -- they see Solana as on their side of this issue. So if Solana becomes their next Commission president, they may feel still in control of things.

But like I said before, for Solana this could be a step down. You see, the new Foreign Minister post would give Solana almost dictatorial control of the EU's foreign and security policy. And in light of all Solana's amazing diplomatic skills and achievements in this field, I can't imagine that role taken away and given to another.

So, this is what I think: If Solana gets the job of Commission president, the office will be modified to give Solana equal powers over the EU's foreign and security policy he would have enjoyed as the new Foreign Minister.

In other words, he could become stronger yet.

Stay tuned!

Talking Turkey

In my last commentary I reported the two different visions for this new, super EU beast. Some -- like France, Germany and Belgium -- want to see the EU become a single, federally controlled superstate. Others, like Britain, Italy and Poland, want to see the EU remain as it is -- a divided kingdom of sovereign nation states. And I believe this latter vision is the creature we find described in Bible prophecy (Daniel 2: 40-43).

But now it appears there may be another battle going on over Turkey. You see, Javier Solana wants Turkey to become a member of the EU. And according to Turkey's first online newspaper, the EU head's are talking Turkey over Solana. The Zaman Daily almost gleefully reports Solana has become the front runner in the race for the next EU Commission president (Read about it here)>>>> http://www.zaman.com/?bl=international&alt...0040605&hn=9234

Since Turkey wants in the EU, Solana would naturally be their pick.

Now I understand why France -- normally a Solana supporter -- is pushing for another candidate for Commission president. France is strongly opposed to Turkey's membership in the EU. The reason France doesn't want Turkey in the EU is because the French leaders are already worried about their bulging Muslim population. If Turkey enters the EU, France could have even a bigger Muslim problem.

Why does Solana want Turkey in the EU? Because Solana thinks strategically. He understands Turkey's cultural and geo-strategic importances to grow his empire. You see, Turkey is a bridge between two cultures -- Christianity and Islam. Turkey also is a physical bride between Europe and the Middle East. At their Vienna Council in 1998, the EU heads created the office of High Representative -- the office Solana now holds -- under the mandate to direct the EUbeast towards absorbing the Middle East (They codified it under section 666).

Ironically, the same Turkish newspaper is reporting at the June 8-9 meeting of the G8, the US and the EU will be discussing ways to merge President Bush's "Greater Middle East" plan with the EU's "Mediterranean Dialogue." In other words, the US and the EU beasts will be attempting to keep the peace between them by dividing the Mediterranean spoils (Read about it here)>>>> http://www.zaman.com/?bl=international&alt...0040605&hn=9232

Getting back to the EU heads talking Turkey over Solana. Question: Will it happen? Will Solana become the next president of the EU Commission?

I don't know. But, this is what I think. Whatever job Solana is given, it will be custom tailored especially for him. You see, this is what happened when Solana became the EU's first High Representative back in 1999 (Also connected with 666). As I said before, his office was created at the Vienna Council in 1998 while Solana was still head of NATO. It was tailored especially for him to occupy when his term at NATO expired.

Friends, we have clear signs indicating the day of our Lord may be near.

Tell somebody.

EU buoyant as G8 prepares to unveil Mid East plan

07.06.2004 - 17:30 CET / By Andrew Beatty

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - Brussels is claiming a major diplomatic victory as a US initiative to reform the Middle East takes on a European flavour.

Key EU demands appear to have been met in the latest draft of a joint G8 plan to reform and democratise the Middle East.

The text, drafted by the US - which currently chairs the G8 - is set to be unveiled during this week's G8 summit at Sea Island, Georgia - which begins on Tuesday (8 June).

During the months of negotiations leading up to the summit, the EU had voiced concerns that the original text imposed reform from the outside and that a resolution of the Arab-Israeli conflict did not play a big enough role.

A lukewarm reception to a leaked version of the document earlier this year from Arab states helped to cement the need for the group of the world's most industrialised countries to reform the text.

"I think we have managed to shape it in a way that is very much in line with our own ideas", a senior EU diplomat said in the run-up to the Summit.

Brussels is keen to emphasise that the plan is not being imposed from the outside, and that there is no "one size fits all approach".

The text now focuses on assisting civil society as well as dealing with governments, negating the dependency the policy would have had on the will of regimes in the region, which is in several cases tepid.

The policy will deal with governance, democracy, rule of law, human rights, respect of minorities, rights of women, education and realising the regions economic potential, according to diplomats.

Similar statements are expected to come at the EU-US and NATO summits later this year.

Bushwhacked

There are two opposing powers attempting to bring peace to the Middle East. There is President George Bush's Broader Middle East and North Africa Initiative (BMI). And there is Javier Solana's Barcelona Process for the EU (Read about it here)>>>> http://www.dailystar.com.lb/article.asp?ed...article_id=4943

However, the very first step in Bush's plan for the Middle East may have been a misstep that has set the stage for Solana's plan to be the one that ultimately succeeds. Why? Because in my opinion, the Bush administration may have over estimated their own capabilities and underestimated Solana's.

The first step in Bush's plan was the liberation and democratization of Iraq. The Bush administration believed the Iraqis would lay down their arms and greet American troops as liberators. Instead, the Iraqi war of liberation turned into an ugly occupation that threatened the stability of the remaining moderate Arab governments in the region.

The bottom line is, America, Britain and Italy are in a bind and urgently need the UN's help in Iraq. And it appears Solana is behind the scenes playing hardball. If the US expects the EU's support for a UN resolution, their will be a price to pay. And, it's beginning to look like that price may have been paid.

The EUobserver is reporting Solana is already claiming victory. The report says:

Brussels is claiming a major diplomatic victory as a US initiative to reform the Middle East takes on a European flavor. Key EU demands appears to have been met in the latest draft of a joint G8 plan to reform and democratize the Middle East (Read about it here)>>>> http://www.euobserver.com/?sid=9&aid=16483

And if this isn't a big enough victory for Solana, in the last minute Bush even backed down and accept the French demand that the new Iraqi government be given veto power over coalition military operations (Read about it here)>>>> http://news.scotsman.com/politics.cfm?id=651172004

If you recall, this was something Bush promised he would never accept for American troops.

What does this all mean? I think it means America has just been humiliated in the eye's of the Europeans. The way they see it, Texas cowboy George Bush has been bushwhacked by their own Javier Solana.

And they feel good about it.

Solana unveils plans to analyse EU terror threats

08.06.2004 - 16:13 CET / By Sharon Spiteri

EUOBSERVER / LUXEMBOURG - EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana today unveiled proposals to analyse terror threats within the EU.

In the proposal, presented to EU justice and home affairs ministers in Luxembourg on Tuesday (8 June), Mr Solana suggests expanding the tasks of the EU situation centre, Sitcen, which currently only analyses threats outside the EU, to also look into threats inside the EU bloc.

"It's the first step, but very important", Mr Solana said.

He also proposed that the already existing Counter Terrorism Group should hold regular meetings - at the level of heads of security agencies in the member states.

The plan's aim is to enable analysis of threats and the sharing of information at the level of all the 25 EU states and follows the Madrid terrorist attacks in March which highlighted the need to improve co-operation between police, security and intelligence services.

First Global Army

Leaders of the world's eight leading democracies meeting in Georgia have decided to created the world's first global army. Reuters reports:

The Group of Eight industrial nations intends to help create a global peacekeeping force of more than 50,000 people over the next five to six years (Read about it here)>>>> http://www.reuters.co.uk/newsPackageArticl...82&section=news

Prophetically speaking, this is big news. We all heard world government was coming. Now it's here. You see, a world peacekeeping force will need a world command structure. In other words, a world army will need a world government of some kind. And it appears the leaders of the G8 are more than willing to take up that role.

So what's going on here? Is President Bush part of the so-called New World Order conspiracy we Christians are all so threatened by? Of course he is -- he has to be. And so are all the other world leaders. You see, whatever these leaders decide to do -- they will be shaping the new world order that follows the old bi-polar world order of the Cold War era. I guess if we want to blame someone, we must blame Ronald Reagan. He's being credited for ending the Cold War.

But I don't blame Reagan and I don't blame Bush. This is what I think: Just like Javer Solana is for the European Union, President Bush is trying to mold this new world order in a way he thinks is best for America. That's because like Ronald Reagan, I believe Bush understands America has become a shinning city on a hill -- a beacon of freedom to the rest of the world (Matthew 5:14).

Will Bush succeed the way Reagan did? Unfortunately, I don't think so. Bible prophecy paints a much darker picture of the final world order of man.

At least he's trying.

Mediterranean Cold War

Thought a deal had been made. After all, the Bush administration made all the concessions requested by France and Germany and got the United Nations resolution through on Iraq. Now another problem has popped up. What's going on?

At the meeting of the G8 in Georgia, after finally winning the European Union's support for a UN resolution on Iraq, the United States and Britain felt confident they could move forward. They presented a three-point plan for the Middle East. Their plan called for a bigger role for NATO in Iraq, the bringing of real democratic and economic reforms to region, and the settling of the Israeli/Palestinian dispute via Sharon's Gaza withdrawal plan (Read about it here)>>>> http://www.guardian.co.uk/israel/Story/0,2...1235377,00.html

And to their surprise, France and Germany did it again -- they pulled back from the table. Why? This is what I think: Their problem is NATO. You see, the bottom line is, the anti-American factions within Solana's 10-nation alliance don't want more NATO -- they want less NATO. In their view, more NATO means more America. And they simply want America out of the Mediterranean.

Let's take a look at who didn't show up for this important meeting. It turns out two very important regional players stayed home -- Saudi Arabia and Egypt. But another important player also didn't show -- the EU's High Representative Javier Solana. If you know Solana, you know this was highly out of character. And this brings up an interesting question: Are all three of these important players on the same team?

Here's what I think: The US and her few remaining allies are battling the growing anti-American factions within the new, super EU for control of the Middle East's resources.

Whether we admit it or not, we're in a Mediterranean Cold War.

And Israel is caught in the middle.

Solana Almost In

In my May 3 commentary I said:

The following months should be particularly interesting.

Boy has this turned out to be true! First we heard news the EU's High Representative, Javier Solana, may be given the new super Foreign Minister post before the Constitution is even ratified by the 25 member states. Then we learned Solana may instead take Romano Prodi's job and become the next president of the Commission. Now we find Solana back on course for Foreign Minister (Read about it here)>>>> http://www.guardian.co.uk/eu/story/0,7369,1237076,00.html

You know what? I think it's all just for show. I think the really important decisions have already been made. If you recall, in my May 3 commentary I also said:

As you know, as of May 1 the European Union enlarged itself into a 25 nation monster. But the problem is, according to reports, no decision has been made as to who will be in charge (Read about it here)>>>> http://www.euobserver.com/index.phtml?sid=9&aid=15426

I find this hard to believe. It's not like the founding EU member states have all suddenly gone fishing. In fact, the enlargement process began in their mind some time ago.

And I concluded by saying:

And in the mean time, we're told 25 nations have piled into the EU for a ride, and nobody knows who will be at the wheel in June. Does this sound like something you'd let your daughter do?

My point, of course, is I believed some person -- or group of persons -- may be in control of these intriguing political events happening in the new, super EU. And I further suspected that person may be Solana and that group of persons the 10 EU heads who are members of Solana's Western European Union military alliance.

Why do I feel confident enough to say something like this? My confidence is not in myself -- it's in the Bible. And according to my understanding, the geo-political events unfolding in Europe and Israel are exactly as foretold in prophecy.

But if that's true, why aren't the popular prophecy teachers reporting it? I believe it's because they've all committed themselves to a different scenario where the Antichrist (not saying it's Solana) doesn't come on the scene until after the church is removed from earth to be with Jesus in the rapture.

This brings up a serious question: What if the popular teachers are right and I'm wrong? Couldn't it cause a lot of God's people to stumble? Here's my answer. If I'm wrong I'm wrong. That's all.

You see, Tim Lahaye may be wrong about some things too. That doesn't mean he shouldn't have written his excellent Left Behind books. I think he may have been wrong basing his entire series on the weakest element in Bible prophecy -- the timing of the rapture. Instead, I think he should have focused on the more sure parts of prophecy -- such as the revival of the Roman Empire, the appearing of a 10-nation alliance and office of High Representative. But, if some of the Left Behind readers stumble should they find the Antichrist on the scene before the rapture, it will be their own fault, not Lahaye's.

Here's why I say this. When Jesus was asked about the end-times, He said it was our own responsibility not to be mislead by anybody (Matthew 24:4). And regarding the same issue of end-times deception, the Apostle Paul said the same as Jesus. Paul said:

Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 New American Standard Bible).

Once again we find it is our own responsibility not be mislead. In the end we -- and we alone -- are responsible for the things we believe.

Here's my point: I think Tim Lahaye and the other popular prophecy teachers honestly believe the rapture will happen before the Antichrist comes on the scene. And if it turns out they're wrong, that doesn't make them false teachers. It only means they are human and may have made an honest mistake. The same applies to me.

And if it turns out I'm wrong? I'll be the first to admit it.

My question is, will they?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
