The Internal Revenue Service requires that stolen property be claimed as income, in addition to any money made from other illegal activity.

These IRS rules are creating buzz across Twitter, causing some people to question the rules' validity.

So THIEVES are going to go down ... instead of STEALING from the BUSINESSES ... but from the GOVERNMENT for not reporting their stolen goods!  LOL!

God bless,

George

If you accept a bribe, you also have to report that. :)

Here's the document it came from:

Just goes to show us just how whacked our government really is if they truly think any criminal will report their illegal income on their tax form.

I wonder if this is a means by arresting people in states who blatantly steal and never get prosecuted because of bad DA's.

Can you imagine ... thieves caught on camera with thousands of dollars of merchandise thinking they got away with something ... only to be arrested for not claiming stolen goods as income!  LOL!

I guess by definition, acquisition of property or money by theft, bribery or other illegal activity is still income. I can imagine that for the people crafting these regulations, it must have been done with an amused self-awareness about it.

Never gave that a thought!  It sure would be a mess in the courts, wouldn't it.  Tax evasion is a felony, at the minimum, and a federal crime in most cases.  I wonder which court system will get hammered the most?

This is bizarre. It's just another indication of how far down the cesspool we have gone. If it was not so sad, it would be funny.
