This is a thought I had that I checked with others.  I know it kind of sounds weird, and I can anticipate the protests I could get, but here goes anyway. . . .

What if it's God's mercy?

I mean, this showed how unprepared our emergency response team/ gov't/ etc. were to respond to such a massive disaster.

So, what if the Lord allowed-caused the destruction of one city to prepare us for the worse thing that's down the pike.

I know that sounds weird, but. . . .

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

you might have swerved into the problem I'm having communicating my thoughts on this

I see absolutely no contradiction in saying it was BOTH judgement and mercy.

I see absolutely no contradiction in saying it was the worst disaster of all time in America and the best thing that has happened since the Jesus Movement of the 60s

I see absolutely no contradiction in saying America is the worst nation (morally) and the best nation in the world.

But I forget that the hellenistic mind has problems grasping that concept.

America is the worst nation morally?

Shall we debate the facts here?

This is an absurd statement and I find it totally offensive.

You may be interested in reading the Worldnetdaily article re: Rabbi's comparing/connecting the US support of the Gaza pull-out and Katrina. (It's right now linked to the michael savage web site too)

I hope the contraversy you stirred doesn't discourage you........I'm very happy for you your relationship with Lord Jesus is so very strong. Bless you friend.

Yeah - it's amazing how God can do that, huh?

I don't know if this means anything or not, but if you've seen Yod posting in other threads, he's as pro-American as anyone can be.

Can you re-read his statement from that perspective?

there's an article in Worldnetdaily that Rabbi's tie the storm to US support of the Gaza pull-out.....more coincidences??.....check it out.........

I didn't think the pull out was right but now we're just getting looney. That assertion is beyond ridiculous. Come on!!!!If God want's to punish someone for anti-Semitism you think he would start with the whole Muslim world and then much of Europe. Its silly to go around labeling every bad thing that happens as the "Wrath of God". It was just a bad storm people...deal with it. Its happened before and it will happen again. Its called weather. This is nutty! Opps.... I gotta go...there a UFO landing in my back yard. There out there!!

i agree it was just a bad storm.........instead of dwelling on this lets get to helping them get on their feet again

Any time in the Bible that God brought judgement upon a place there was total destruction (Lot and Noah) he warned the righteous beforehand and got them completely out before the destruction hit.

I have not heard of anyone getting such a warning or word BEFORE the hurricane.

Also God always destroyed totally when he brought about these judgements.

I asked this question in a different thread, but I'll ask it here too - how large does a "catastrophe" have to be before it's considered "the wrath of God" ? 10 people ? 100 people ? A small city ? A large city ?

How about deaths ? 1 ? 10 ? 100 ? 1000 ? 10,000 ?

Would a windstorm that blows a tree over onto a family of 6 whilst driving down the motorway be a "freak of nature" or God's wrath on that family ( and an example the the rest of the nation they live in ) ?

Honestly- where does one draw the line ? When does a natural disaster become "the wrath of God" ? If a bolt of lightning strikes a single house- is that an act of God's wrath or just nature being nature ?

Just something I've been wondering for all those who say Katrina was God punishing America.

"Disaster" is relative to those it affects...in my opinion at least. To that family in the house that got hit by lightning, it's a disaster- but to someone in a different country ( or even city ), would they even care unless they had interest in that home/family ? Probably not.

So, when does a "disaster" change from being a simple act of nature to the "wrath of God" ?

God bless,

Tim

It's not about size or numbers.

Each case has to be looked at on its own merits.

Don't have time to delve into that right now, but wanted to share this.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
