Spiritual warfare

Forgot to mention something very critical: it happens in time and space. It is NOT all "spiritual." The rock was physical. The sling was physical. The skull of Goliath was physical. Both the sword and the severed head were physical.

All of it was part of a history recounting the means by which God would enter the world in human likeness and redeem us from sin. David killed one giant, came prepared to kill them all, and in so doing freed all of Israel for a time. Christ came, killed a giant and all its siblings, and freed all God's children for all eternity.

In time and space.

In David's case the battle was already won spiritually before the actual physical battle. My take away- Concentrate always on the spiritual side of any battle first. I see our part in the battle as reliance on the one who can win the battle through us. Our part in the battle is obedience and holiness coupled with our awareness of the spiritual world.

Was David simply not afraid to die? Or did he have such great confidence he KNEW he was going to win? Everything human in us would probably fall in with the first idea, and while it certainly could have also been true I think David had tapped into an assurance few of us seem to possess. The idea we have an absolute that hasn't happened yet in the face of what seem are impossible odds is about as rare as hen's teeth.

This idea has been milked by the name it and claim it crowd, but I think it goes way deeper than this. David wasn't in this for himself, he was in it for the Lord and His glory. He wanted to show an already established fact, that the devil has been defeated and is no match for even the least of those God calls to the task.

Maybe God set David where he was as a herdsman to prepare him for the battle with Goliath.    When you fight bears and lions and win, why fear a simple giant.  David was bold because he was prepared for that day and that moment.  No fear when God has prepared you for battle.

It was more than just faith,   God prepared David for that moment as he will prepare us for ours if we pay attention and not get ahead of ourselves.

I think the key to David's success was in Him knowing Who He was ....a Child of God, a member of the Chosen People....and who that giant was

1 Samuel 17:26

Then David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?

This is the faith of David

1 Samuel 17:20

20 And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle.

David's occupation of being a Keeper of Sheep has a bearing on his Victory over Goliath. Abel is a Keeper of Sheep.

What Spiritual Warfare lessons do you see?

Spiritual warfare lesson- Prophecy...

There are 4 elements at this battle. 1. David, 2. Goliath,  3. The army of God, 4. The Philistine army.  Of which do you most relate to?

It is commonly accepted that David is a type of Christ and Goliath is a type of Satan.  By allowing that to be the case for this lesson we can open up the full intentions of God in this event which is Prophecy...Seldom do we hear of the other 2 elements of this event which take on major roles then, during Jesus time on earth and today.

God's army was being held captive by fear. They believed Goliath and feared for their lives. Goliath and the Philistines army had false courage.  They trusted in the lie.

David believed in and trusted in the Truth. When David defeated the Giant the walls of fear fell and the now courageous army of God went after  the now terrified army of the defeated Goliath.

If we are the army of God, do we go after people with swords and spears? GOD FORBID! Rather we are shown our part in ehh 6. David displayed all the characteristics of the full armor of God.  And he spoke the Truth.

Once suited up we need remember but one more thing,  "..we wrestle not against flesh and blood..." In a nutshell,  if you can see them,  leave them alone.

So much can be realized from this event if we allow it its fullness. Mind you, I'm certainly not against using this story to overcome personal hardships.  But not at the expense of its intended fullness. First God.

Remember the story of Jesus overcoming the devils temptations? Prophecy...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
