The voice was recognizable...he knew it as soon as the 3 men appeared to him.  He had heard it in Mesopotamia, in Haran, and again in Israel.  :)

This is good for anyone who wants to think that way.

It's not without margin of error.

George, the Bible doesn't mention of angel of the Lord anymore after Jesus birth and resurrection.

As far as I know it's often or always Jesus in the form of an angel, the angel of the LORD was a temporary manifestation of the LORD Jesus Christ in a preincarnate form.

Who is teaching this.

The Bible doesn't tell us who the Angel of the Lord is but it does give us clues.

(Genesis 16:7-12; 21:17-18; 22:11-18; Exodus 3:2; Judges 2:1-4; 5:23; 6:11-24; 13:3-22; 2 Samuel 24:16; Zechariah 1:12; 3:1; 12:8)

It is Christ.

13 To which of the angels did God ever say,

“Sit at my right hand
    until I make your enemies
    a footstool for your feet”?

14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

Acts 12:11

11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

Amen

No clue needed for this event with Peter.

In lines 2,3,4 Peter said: Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel.

Then the Angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, and said: "By Myself I have sworn, says the LORD, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son — "blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. "In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice."

@missmuffet Hi there.  The Bible does tell us Who the Angel of the LORD is right there in the sixteenth verse.

Not necessarily...Gabriel appeared to Daniel.

Why the red lettering? Is it to emphasize the following.

HI, Ycf.  I was replying to @missmuffet:)  She mentioned that the Bible never tells us who The Angel of the LORD is.  But, truly, in verse 16, the proof is revealed to us that it is God the Father who is The Angel of the LORD.  This is our Father’s oath to Himself, and it lays the foundation of the coming of His Son.

Right, we remember that the Word made flesh said (I paraphrase since I'm on my silly phone and don't know how to copy and paste from my bible app ), When you see Me, you have seen the Father.

We know what this means, with knowledge that the Word of God is the express image of our Father whom no man has seen at any time. No man has seen our Father, but His Son explains Him.

Therefore, before the fullness of time had come when the Son of God was born to a woman under the Law --- He became the Son of Man, Emmanuel, God with us  --- He was with God, and is God. He was, and is, and is to come, the Almighty (from Revelation... relying on memory since for some reason, I can't have this browser open together with my bible app).

Hehe, silly phone. Oh well, it's what I use on the forum during slow times at work.

So anyway, before He became the Son of Man, He was! The Son of God is God and He is eternal, so the Son of God appeared to men either in the likeness of man (more than once in the OT) or as the angel of YHWH.

I agree! :)

Yes!  The LORD (written in all caps) is YHWH.  90554292-E160-4313-B27F-E135E29AF94F.gif.94def25a782d8666318231ae3418b6d7.gif

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
