Shalom everyone,

Yesterday, I was looking to replace a mattress for my old room at my parents house.   When we bought our RV almost 2 years ago, the mattress in it was a typical RV mattress and it was terrible!  We tried everything, different foam tops, comforters, etc ... but we couldn't get a good night's sleep!

So I saw a commercial about a Purple mattress and so we bought one -- truly the best mattress I've ever owned!  We got it on sale and it was $1300 when we bought it nearly two years ago.

So I thought of getting one for my parents house, and I go to check out the prices ... and the SAME mattress is over $2200!  Talk about inflation!  But I imagine that people will spend $2200 to get a good nights sleep. Rest is so important and people will pay an arm and a leg for it.

Amazingly, the Lord said, "Come to me, and I'll give you rest" ... and that was for free!  But if you want true rest, it cannot be by spending $2200 for a mattress but by resting in Him!  Truly allowing yourself to cast all your worries upon Him ... trusting Him for all your finances ... and when you truly are resting in Him -- it's better than any mattress you can buy!

So if you need rest ... realize that true rest in these crazy times are truly found in Him!

By the way, I didn't buy the mattress -- I can't put my mind around the concept of spending $2200 for a mattress!  ;)

Be blessed,

George

Last year I bought a memory mattress. That is what Purple is. It definitely did not cost me $2,200.00. But I have a full size bed. I love it.

Inflation is crazy. Good words to find true rest!

The last mattress I bought was about five years ago. I needed a mattress around the same time as my wife's birthday. Due to a sleeping condition ( loud snoring) we were sleeping in separate beds. She said it was me. I said it was her. I think we were both right.

I needed a way to hide the expenses for her birthday party. I inflated the cost of the mattress to hide the expenses for her party from her because it was a surprise party. She was under the impression the cost of that mattress was much higher.

My plan went well and her surprise party was a success. The mattress I bought is  ok. I've been on it for 5 years. Like the purple mattress it was one of those boxed foam mattresses. I can definitely tell the difference between my mattress and hers. I like a firmer mattress.

When the Lord told us to come to Him and He would give us rest, I'm pretty sure we will be located far away from night time noises.

I say that in jest, :) but seriously I could use some of that rest.

An excellent word, brother. The only true rest is in our Lord Jesus Christ. :)

Speaking of mattresses, this got to me thinking about the monetary value of the one donated to me by the staff here at the transitional housing shelter where I work. I was not expecting what they did for me so I was shocked when they filled my apartment with furniture, kitchen items, appliances, and a queen-sized Bamboo mattress. It was perfect for my aching back...

Yes, a gift from the Lord.

I decided to look that mattress up online and the price I found was $1,299.00. Not the equivalent of that Purple mattress to be sure, but a hefty sum regardless. Inflation is indeed out of control. We'll keep our eyes and hearts focused on the Lord!

Good morning…

Sure enough, life is tough, and we’ve all been witnessing some particularly horrible events in recent years that are wearing us down.  These days, everywhere we look, there is so much brokenness.  May we daily seek to be still and rest in Him, knowing that John 3:16 is true and that the heavy burden of sin is no longer ours to carry.  The best is yet to come! ….selah

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
