Colossians 3:17 (NKJV)
And whatever you do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Colossians 3:23-24 (NKJV)
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.

           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All the words of scripture are addressing, in one way or another, this truth of the reward of the inheritance that one is to receive from the Lord Himself… Which is, Christ our life or Christ’s life coming to life in one…
But what actually is Christ’s life in one…?
It is life itself in all it’s aspects and possibilities manifested in righteousness in outward nature from the moment of the new birth going forward…. Which is to be experienced to the degree one is trusting Him to live His life in and through, for faith and trust in God is that that brings God’s life to outward realization…. For the faith that grabs onto the ‘knowing that from the Lord you will receive’, will receive this life of Christ expressed…
For the receiving of the inheritance starts with the wanting of Christ’s life over the life of self…. For this is the moment by moment dilemma of life…..
Does one want to live one’s life or have Christ live His life through one… Where is one’s desire, after oneself or Christ…?  For in the inheritance all things are lawful and good (except sin)…. For twice we are told ‘whatever you do’, freeing one to choose that which pleases one for the doing of the receiving of the inheritance that is in the doing…. For if one wants to go this way, one is free to go this way, if one would go that way, one is free to go that way… For the inheritance of God, brings God into the act, for He is in all the possibilities, as long as it is not sin it can and will be blessed from above, which is the receiving of the inheritance of the life of Christ lived in one…. For the life of Christ is expressed in all forms of the doing of life, for life itself is a expression of righteousness, as it is an expression of the inheritance….
For faith grows from the desire towards the thing, let the Lord be the thing, and the life of Christ will flow through one’s ‘whatever you do’…
Onto Him are all things, let them be such, Not me
Surely the inheritance is multifaceted and the same one that God promised to Abraham and is received by faith.
Galatians 3:[16] Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
[17] And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
[18] For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
[19] Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
[20] Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
[21] Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
[22] But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
[23] But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
[24] Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
[25] But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
[26] For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
First of all, let me commend your posting. If our goal is to gain Christ, all else will take its place - including the inheritance. I will try to add on the inheritance.
The word "inheritance" is used almost exclusively in the old Testament to denote the Land of Canaan. The exception is of course the Levite. The Levite has no inheritance in the Land but he is to receive tithes from Israel AND his inheritance is God Himself (Numbers Chapter 20, Deut.10:9). This is simply God continuing His plan of Genesis 1:26-28 - to have MEN rule the earth.
When we turn to the New Testament the "inheritance" of the Christian is to be named a king over a city in the coming Millennial Kingdom of Jesus. But this needs some explanation.
God's original plan with man was that the man (or men - plural) would (i) be in the image and likeness of God, and (ii) subdue all things not in line with God's will, and (iii) would rule with God's type of rule. Man, perfect specimen that he was, lacked one thing for this huge job. He needed to partake of the divine life. To be in the image and likeness of something, one has to absorb the nature of that thing. A dog barks because he is a dog. A man can simulate the barking but is not in the "likeness" of a dog. He just does not have the nature of the canine. The solution to man's lack was that God put him in front of the Tree of Life and commanded him to eat. If man had obeyed God and eaten, he would have taken the life and nature of God into him and would have, by nature, displayed God in His attributes.
The Lion is regarded as the KING of the beasts. But "lion-rule" is uncomfortable. By his very nature, a lion tears and devours things. If a lion rules we would say that the rule of a lion is dangerous because of his LIFE, or his nature. If aman rules the earth his rule is in accordance with his life. And if a man who has the nature of God rules, then we will have the rule of "ETERNAL LIFE" - not because the earth and its subjects have eternal life, but because the attributes of the kingdom will exhibit God's LIFE and nature. This is why the Bible uses INHERITING the Kingdom interchangeably with INHERITING eternal LIFE. Let's look at Matthew 19;
16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. 23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. 27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? 28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. 30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.
Here we have FIVE things
  1. HAVE eternal life (v.16)
  2. ENTER in (eternal) LIFE (v.17)
  3. INHERIT eternal LIFE (v.29)
  4. ENTER into the Kingdom of God (v.24)
  5. ENTER into the Kingdom of Heaven (v.23)
Now, the Lord did not answer the man about HAVING LIFE. The reason is twofold. (i) the man asked what he may DO to attain to it, and (ii) the man called Jesus "Good Master" - a title only allowed for God.
1. Eternal Life CANNOT BE GAINED by what we DO. It is by FAITH ALONE (Jn.3:14-16). And the an showed what he believed by calling Jesus as Lord. So he already HAD eternal life. Jesus does not mention it again, but turns to the issue of ENTERING, INHERITING or ATTAINING to eternal LIFE. And it is immediately obvious what He meant. He INTERCHANGES "entering LIFE" with "entering The KINGDOM". And this BY WORKS!
Now, let us settle one thing before we go further. It is not wrong to be rich. The Law of Moses PROMISED wealth if you kept the Law. This man had kept the Law and was rich by God keeping His side of the Covenant. The man was blessed of God and the riches came from God. He had every right to them. Added to this, when Jesus returns to earth, He will set up a Kingdom that will cause the earth to prosper. The attributes of His Kingdom will be, (i) the rule of the rod of iron (Rev.19:15), (ii) righteousness, (iii) just judgment, (iv) no corruption, (v) great pomp, (vi) fame much greater than Solomon's, (vii) long life, (viii) fertility, and (ix) wealth. That is the LIFE of the kingdom. Because of the kings having God's LIFE, the resulting rule will be a rule of (eternal) LIFE.
2. So why did our Lord demand of the rich man sell and to give away what he had? The reason is that those who want to be kings in the Kingdom, must (i) be trained not to covet, (ii) be trained to plan their resources on the needs of the people, and (iii) be trained to spend their resources to promote God's name. The wealth gained by keeping the Law is valid. And it is property of the Law-keeper. The man who wants to be a steward of God, must set aside what is his, and take care of the needs of the people. It is NOT that you must be poor, it is that you must be infused with the attitude of God to suffer to serve the people. A true king does not have to accumulate wealth. the Land is his anyway. A true king must be DETACHED from wealth and fame, and he must use his power TO SERVE
For the Christian in THIS AGE, he is under training to be king in the next age. In this age he must GET (divine) LIFE by rebirth. And he must be exercised by this life for OBEDIENCE so that when and if he becomes king in the next age, he will rule with God's attributes. THIS ... is the INHERITANCE - to be co-kings ruling the earth with Christ by cities (Lk.19:17-19). IN the next age, Israel will be recovered, and they will be returned to their Land. The rule there is the LAW (Jer.31:31-35). But the Christian will rule cities. And the TYPE of rule is not the Law of Moses. It is the LAW OF LIFE in Christ Jesus (Rom.8:1-2). Because he HAS eternal LIFE, his rule will be energized with ETERNAL LIFE and thus create a RULE OF LIFE - God's life.
The Nations who survive the Great Tribulation will NOT HAVE eternal life, but they will be ruled by men and women who HAVE eternal life. And this eternal life will provoke a RULE with the attributs of this LlFE
Ephesians 1:11
 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will.
1. Our inheritance in Christ is imperishable.
2. Our inheritance in Christ is unspoiled.
3. Our inheritance in Christ is unfading.
4. Our inheritance in Christ is reserved.
When we understand and value the glory that awaits us, we are better able to endure whatever comes our way in this life.
    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.
      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.
      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.
      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.
      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”
    • Understanding the Enemy!
      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!
      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.
      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,
      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.
      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!
    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,
      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.
      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."
      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
