Just curious...do you guys get equally ticked off when heterosexual promiscuity is promoted on tv and in schools also?

You bet I do!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Ditto! I hate to see any sins promoted on TV, in movies, in music, in the schools, etc., especially to our young people who have such impressionable minds and are just beginning to decide what they believe. The thing that got to me about that news article about the Penguins was that the adult woman was hushing the child and correcting him when he said it should not happen with humans. She was telling a child on national TV that it is ok to be gay if that is your preference. He will never forget what she said and it will affect him and many other young, impressionable minds who may have seen the same news show. And, we are seeing the gay lifestyle and non-married people living together promoted even in children's movies and cartoons. They are trying to brain-wash these children early on that these and many other sins are ok. And, so they grow up thinking it's ok. I really appreciate and support people like James Dobson who addresses these issues. I applaud his efforts!

The sin may not be worse but it sure ticks me off how they are forcing their "lifestyles" into every aspect of life. I hate the idea of having to screen my kid's homework for gay propaganda :)

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

And that is the problem.

I'm glad you pointed this out, Geri! :)

Just curious...do you guys get equally ticked off when heterosexual promiscuity is promoted on tv and in schools also? While I agree that there is certainly a homosexual-political agenda, and that it is permiating our culture rapidly...it isn't the only sexual sin to infiltrate our lives in such a public way. Heterosexual promiscuity has been doing the same thing for years now. Maybe if we had fought this movement as vigorously as we are "fighting" the homosexual movement now, maybe we could've prevented the further perversion of our culture. We can blame the so-called "homos" all we want, but the truth is..if believers hadn't been so silent on the sexual issue before now we might not be in this delimma. Perhaps the problem is that too many believers were caught up in these sins themselves to have the power to fight against it.

Here's an interesting article on how saturated our society is with sex:

Hate the sin so much that you are willing to do almost anything within reason and love to see it dissipate from the person's life.

Would you ever use "tough love," as it's called, on a person?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Who is against them? Who shuns them? Who is "everyone"? I don't think all people are against them, and I don't think all Christians shun them. I think there are many of us who are against the act of homosexuality but we are not against the people. We want to help them get out of their sin. Some people are certainly judgmental and perhaps even more are harsh in their approach of the subject, while others would just like to see those who are in bondage to that sinful lifestyle be set free! So, I don't know who "everyone" is. I guess you would have to ask specific people or groups of people these questions.

Yes he would and has....I speak from experience here..lol. The difference here though, is that Super Jew and I have a relationship, a friendship already established that has developed over years and through life experiences. I have given him the freedom to speak into my life and he's earned my respect. He knows he can correct me and be downright mean if he needs to be and that I'll receive it. However, he doesn't use this same tactic with people he hardly knows or doesn't have a relationship with..this would be foolish and counter-productive. Another thing, I believe "tough love" should be used primarily on those who are already believers, not the unbelievers. One reason is because this is what we see modeled in Scripture. God disciplines His own (see Hebrews 12) and we see in the examples of David, Jonah, Israel and Hosea that He uses discipline and harshness when necessary to bring His own back to Him. Secondly, we are taught over and over in the New Testament that we are to hold one another (believers) accountable..yet when dealing with unbelievers we are told to use love, gentleness, patience, kindness..and told not to forget that it was God's kindness that led us to repentance. Can you give me an example in Scripture where an unsaved person came to Christ because of "tough love"? What is your definition of "tough love"? Do you think tender love should precede it?

Who is against them? Who shuns them? Who is "everyone"?

Maybe she's referring to some of the comments floating around this board regarding homosexuals....like these quotes:

Well nothing would surprise me about homos.

You can't trust anyone these days. I couldn't be an athelete, no way to know which guy is the homo checking you out in the shower or the locker room.

I left off the names of those who said them, but there's been alot of this type of attitude displayed around the boards lately, it's disheartening. I'm not quite sure how you prove to someone that you love them and that you're not against them, while labeling them, being disgusted by them and avoiding them at the same time.

Ole God himself would have been questioned in his tactics with Pharoah and Egypt.

oh, that is way to harsh,Lord.

you'll NEVER convert anyone like that.

:emot-handshake:

Pharoah, was given apt opportunity, by  being shown the Power and Majesty of His God---YHWH.

he refused to give up himself and be humble.

BOOM----HARDENED HEART.

how many here realize, the Roman Empire was FULL OF HOMOSEXUALITY AND PENIS FORNICATION gods....

many homes had and "erected" lump of clay, over their doors.

we, are REAL CLOSE.

GO AHEAD---BE NICE.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

That is where I am going wrong. I didn't realize you were God!

You are right. God's judgements often seem harsh to us. On the other hand, I'm not God so the judgement and punishment aren't my job.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
