Online hater Tweets,a police matter?

Well I'm certainly no " news" expert,I hardly ever take a look - especially because I pretty much believe none of what I hear & maybe half of what I see,so what's the sense when you just don't know what is true,false,elaborated,collaborated,convoluted or who knows what Especially in this world of technology when they can make a movie like the Lion King & there's not one real animal in it,computer genius!

So having said that please don't come for me if you believe this is " fake news",lol  In another Thread( different Topic) someone showed me an article about thousands of people that were arrested over the past few years for what they posted ONLINE- but the shocking thing is,it was in Britain-Im speechless( no pun intended!)

I read several news articles from different sites and some were allegedly arrested for sheer stupidity,like quoting lyrics of a hostile rap song or tweeting a racial comment.....what's next,can you guess?

Oh and another Topic I'd like to talk about- very troubling

Hey kwik! It can be a bit confusing for us here in the U.S. to understand that many Commonwealth nations (like the UK, Canada, et. al) instituted laws against what is defined as "hate speech" many years ago, and these laws also apply to content on social media platforms such as Twitter.

In order to operate in those jurisdictions without sanctions or fines, Twitter agrees that its content in those nations will be subject to those specific laws. I'm not a lawyer and I'm definitely not well-versed in matters of international law, so that's the extent of my understanding.

I'm not writing in support of those laws either, in case others mistake a simple recitation of fact as a sign of my support. I steer clear of social media anyway, so I don't have a dog or even a hamster in that fight!

@Marathoner is likely correct. If the language falls into the hate crime category then that will trigger a criminal investigation.

I have no idea what was posted, nor care to find out.

Since this happened over a year ago, I imagine some internet sleuthing could find out what was the outcome, if any.

On that one, do you mean compulsory book burning? 'cuz books are property, you can burn them if you want, as long as you follow safety and air pollution standards. What does book burning lead to? Radio station burning, website burning, computer burning, tattoo removal - pre-frontal lobotomies?

No I mean the govt suggesting " book burning" and banning certain unapproved books from libraries etc..

Are you asking me the question " What does book burning lead to"? Or was that rhetorical!

I happened to see something on a TV talk show when I was at a friend's house,I'm not sure but I think it may have been that DrPhil guy,the TV was on in the background .They were discussing the practice of book burning still active in places like China & Russia and it being considered in some States in the USA

We see more & more censorship these days and I mentioned it to find out more,so many of you seem to know a lot about current events & world news- me,not so much anymore.

We ,as a Nation seem to be going backwards- all the progress we've made in the past few decades has become undone in just 2 short years.Racial rioting,this " woke" nonsense and civil unrest.I wouldn't be surprised ifa civil war erupted.Its instigated by media and political agenda imo ,the pathways for govt intervention ...Am I alone in my observations? it's a mad mad mad world.

So ,how could anyone even entertain the thought of ," book burning ' ? I remember learning about the 1933 imfamous book burning during the Nazi regime, horrific.

 I too know nothing about social media platforms or any of those facebooks,tiktoks & only heard of Twitter because that all the news stations talked about when President Trump  was " Tweeting,",lol.  I had to ask my 30 something neighbor what a Tweet was! Lol,only days ago R.Hartono brought me up to speed on WA- I thought he was referring to Western Australia!

So yes,I'm pretty clueless about all that and it is confusing to hear about those Laws since here in the USA the FTC does nothing & would take an awful lot to motivate any law enforcement agency to take an interest in what Joe Shmoe said on the internet,lol.  I've got some stories regarding criminal activity online,for another time

This is correct.  The problem is that "hate crime" is becoming anything that contradicts the official narrative (e.g. declaring that there are only two genders, or that homosexual practices are sinful).

Britain is nothing like it was, even 30 years ago.  The rules about what you can and cannot say are stifling, and very much anti-Christian. 

Disagreement with the official narrative is being treated as "hate crime", even if there is not a hint of hatred in the disagreement.  This is especially true regarding transgenderism, homosexuality and marriage; however, it also affects philosophies like Critical Race Theory and so-called "White Privilege", which is itself a racist expression.  I pointed this out, at work, and was told that I should not be using the word "racist", since it could destroy someone's career.  I think my irony meter broke!

Parents are trying to get books taken out of libraries when then are explicitly sexual. Some of those books, meant for young children, have illustrations in them showing how to have intercourse, sexual positions and same sex perversions. These books do not belong in our schools or libraries where children can be exposed to them. Adults, parents don't care. But children, no.
