You'd burn the word of God?

Sure his word is in him and the people, not a pen and paper. bible is only a expression of the word not the word itself. your saying you die first?

Me? I'd die before burning my Bible!

a question for you then......

i have one Bible, and there are 1500 pages in it..... and in a village of 1500 families...... i give them the Bible.... last one i have in my bag...... the chiefain takes it, and starts taking one page at a time out of it, and hands it to a family, then another page to the next family and the next page to the next and so forth and so on...... until every family has a single page of the Bible.....

would you die or allow yourself to be killed to try and protect that book from being torn apart? or would you allow each page to be taken and given to a family group?

as was stated, the Bible, is paper. the Word of God should be imprinted on our hearts, we should be studied up enough to have the Word burried in us......

if you say you would die before you allow the book to be burned, they will kill you and burn it anyways..... no gain...

we can voice our concern, and displeasure, and remain alive to go and preach again tomorrow....

some times we have to pick our battles..... if we are bound to loose, or pick a loosing cause we are out of the fight, sometiems it is better to back off a tad so that we can continue on tomorrow....

I am not saying that we are to deny our Lord, not in the Least.... but allowing a book to be destroyed, is not denying our Lord......

comprimise is not an option with our Lord.....

the person that started this thread is burning Bibles... and you are still alive...... you know that they are being burned, you can try to stop them from being burned, or you can sit back and show disapproval as others have, stating that it is wrong..... now, you are still alive..... you ahve stated that you woudl rather die? well??? a bit over reactive i would say.......

when Tindale and the rest were trying to get english Bibles out, they were on the run, they did not give their lives to keep these from being burned ( which was happening as fast as they could be found ) they gave their lives to get the Word of God out to the people in their own language so that the people would know they were being lied to by the church leaders ( as well as the government )...... the people having the Word of God in their own language allowed them to know that they no longer had to pay their way into heaven but that they were able to be covered under Grace.... a full pardon..... there folks did not die to keep Bibles from being burned......

And to the OP, before you decide to burn any more Bibles, I'll take them and see what I can do about getting them to people who need salvation.

I would tare the pages out of my Bible and give them to people who wanted them, but I would never watch the Word of God burn, not whilst i have strength in me! My Hebrew, my Greek, my KJV, if someone were to come to my house to take them away they would have a fight on their hands, for I would never give them up willing, they are all I have left of Jesus, and are most precious to me.

Me? I'd die before burning my Bible!

Hi Ronald et al!

I'm glad to see this thread come back to life. I did find your statement (and that of some others) interesting.

I was wondering----did you know that when Constantin von Tischendorf 'discovered' the ancient codex Sinaiticus it was in a "wide basket", to use Tischendorf's own words, and was soon to be "committed to the flames" as many other such manuscripts had already been by these monks??

I just found your comments and the near fate of Aleph kind of ironic. There Aleph was sitting in a basket moments away from being burnt when Tischendorf 'rescues' it from the flames. It would later team up with Vaticanus and become the two most adored mss. by modern 'scholars'. These two mss. are practically worshipped by 'scholars' and are, for all practical purposes, the basis for all modern versions.

What a difference of opinion these monks had than current 'scholars'. They were moments away from burning Sinaiticus (as a worthless ms.) and modern 'scholars' worship them!

Just some food for thought!

Yes, I do think it can happen. That's why I asked the OP whetehr he would burn his Bible or not. Some believe that the "Sacred Scriptures" are contained in the King James Version and only in the King James Version. To some this amounts to an unhealthy exaltation of this particular translation. I personally have seen the KJV position argues with such virulence that it practially amounts to the kind of worship that Doulon described here. Now, I personally would not intentionally burn a Bible - any Bible - because I just love the Bible! But I do not love it to the extent that I would worship it. The Bible points us to Christ. Only He is worthy of worship.

I don't know of any that think that the scriptures are only in the Holy Bible AKA AV.They all agree that the modern versions have legitimate verses in their covers. But they are not the pure words of God.Only the AV is that.Jerimiah said that God's word was more important than his necessary food.Is this idol worship?I trow not.

David meditates on it all the day,how more zealous can one get to the word of God.Is it an idol?I trow not.

Face it Ovedya,If God exalts his word above his name, who am I to do any less?

I burned By fake Bibles that had poison in them. They were not all the truth.I did it once.I still use many Bibles, but I only believe and live by one.

Since when is it unhealthy to believe God's word and believe what God said in his word about his word?Exactly.Does not the word say "I hate every false way?"The modernversions are exactly that.

They show errors on almost every page. The sources that they come from, came from heretics, like Marcon,Origen,Eusebius,Jerome,Westcott and Hort.

That is a big ouchy.

Those that don't burn their Bibles is fine with me.Those that do not use the KJB is fine with me.It is a free world out there. But I will show the corruptions that are in those versions that are touted today as the new discoveries, and updates.

There is only one Bible. The others are fakers.

Matthew 1:25,1 Timothy 3:16,1 Corinthians 2:17,check and compare and see the truth. This is only a couple out of hundreds.

Next time you falsely accuse others of worship and froth,it is only that they consider the Holy Bible to be the Holy Bible. Most others have no Bible that is considered errorless, and they contradict each othere in so many places.

You, however, have errors in yours.I thought that God's word is to be without error. So why in the world do you defend the fakers?

I am,of course, taking for granted, that if you are not posting in favour of the Holy Bible that you favour more than one version.Or at least "PREFER" one version over others at various places.

Thy word is very pure, therefore thy servant loveth it.Psalm 119:140

Holy Bible

There is only one.

Why all the fuss? Can't we see Jesus in any version of the Holy Bible?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
