I am glad you think you know every conceivable situation that can happen when defending your life with a gun, but I don't think you do.

Thanks for the comment.

Funny, one could say the same about you. I was just pointing out if the guy is willing to flee before you pull the trigger then he really wasn't intending harm in the first place ;)

You know what's funny to me Pat,there is so much " gun" violence in NYC where it is ILLEGAL to possess a handgun!!!!! I think people really need to take a good look at statistics, per capita!

I'm with you 1000percent and you know how I feel about hunting for sport, which you DO NOT do,- you do eat your kill which I'm not a big fan of either btw but hey,we are just different there but I do understand - me,I've got a hard enough time eating chickens ,& pigs but I'm a little kooky anyway, lol

What I am a big fan of is the United States Constitution and protecting our rights, take away 1( any 1) and we will be like every other Socialist Country on the planet soon afterward( or Communist?) .But we are not,we are a Democracy and I still stand for the flag(& kneel for the Cross)Praise Jesus!

Even our Lord Jesus Apostles carried swords,at least Peter did. .. we ,people, have always had the right to defend ourselves and there has also always been murderers and violence long before guns came into the picture....

Maybe biden should lead by example and leave home without his secret service,or tell them not to carry guns and leave the rest of us alone!

It depends on your training, and the situation.

Unless you have been through something like the police academy, you don't touch a weapon until you have already decided to use it and when that decision is made, hesitation can get you killed.    If you are within 4 feet of me holding a handgun, and not using it, I can take it away from you and you can't stop me.   Training I have received from professionals.   Likewise I could not stop you from doing so to me should you have that knowledge....   so I don't intend to hesitate.

Exactly. What most people forget is the second amendment wasn't put in place for self defense or for hunting. That reason is why the government is working so hard to abolish it.

Pretty sound advice. If the perp runs while I'm in the process of drawing my gun, then he can run I won't shoot. But if he's still there when the gun is out and ready to shoot them I'm pulling the trigger.

Life isn't like the movies.... put your hands up rarely works.

Yes,If you're going to draw your weapon you must be prepared to fire it- or don't own one!!!!

@kwikphilly Leaving aside politics, a similar comment could be made about using 'the sword of the Spirit', the Word of God.... :) (Ephesians 6).

Exactly,- my first profession was one I had to take an oath to do no harm- the 2nd I was taught to use deadly physical force & trained to discern when it was applicable and lawful ... Not easy

Police Academy is thorough but still nothing like the streets- a perp with a gun is unpredictable and 9 times out of 10 the gun is illegal and they are in unlawful possession. .   Criminals have no training, they just don't want to be caught and will not hesitate to fire- often results in hurting innocent bystanders, they are a menace but the gun isn't the problem- they are.

Just my 2 cents

She doesn't have to, she just has to know how to do something many people dont-something I've harped on in this very thread, and that's turn off the TV and look at the real world. She knows how to do actual research think through her views before sharing them, creating well thought out arguments supporting her views.

She doesn't need to mock, insult, or put people down to get her point across. Which is why I enjoy debating with her, because while we don't always agree, I at least know where she's coming from because she understands basic debate skills, something many people in the world and even on this very forum, lack.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
