Matthew 24.21 seems to refer to a unique period in history, not to the general tribulations of life which believers in the church today go through (John 16.33).

No it’s plain and simple:  you are following an imagination.  The  Disciples simply asked What would be the sine of his coming in the end of the age and he gave an answer he gave a sequence and a timeframe when we’re in the end, and how he would come don’t add or take away it’s very simple

The “Tribulation Saints are the “Two Witnesses”. But not two as in 1+1 but as the chosen vessels is a witness to God and God is a witness to those vessels… they are the 144,000 12 out of 12 tribes it just means chosen

You believe the two witnesses who kill and torment people for 42 months will be beaten in a synagogue?

12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

I'm betting that while the saints in Israel are being beaten in the synagogues and locked up in prison or killed that not a single Israeli will lift a finger to hurt either one of those two witnesses.

Although there are many saints martyred and persecuted and beaten past present and future…God has an appointed time for the Tribulation Two Witness Saints He will give his power and anointing….like the Apostles in the Book of Acts being the Former Rain of the Spirit these in the Tribulation will be a latter rain of the spirit God will not let anyone hurt them and will protect them for they will bring judgement in order to clean the bride of Christ  so whoever hears and repents will be saved…but the churches today have a pride so when these humble chosen of God Show up with judgment, The pastors of these churches are not gonna like it! Many are false prophets and speak in their own Authority they don’t really know the true God so they will not like the message because they will  speak with Gods authority and judgment, because he hast to wash them clean and correct the wrongs make them ready the church is in apostasy. It is falling away from the truth. If they don’t receive gods judgment, they cannot be saved. That’s why they will hate these two witnesses and will kill them But only after God protects them while they give their message that he wants them to give.  This is all right about the time where we will be caught up with Jesus, in the air at the end of the age and the first resurrection

The two witnesses don't sound very humble to me.

Since the two witnesses are not persecuted during the 1260 persecution of the saints in Israel,it sounds like those who are persecuted during that time is humble.

Daniel 11:33-35

Wise leaders will give instruction to many, but these teachers will die by fire and sword, or they will be jailed and robbed.

During these persecutions, little help will arrive, and many who join them will not be sincere.
And some of the wise will fall victim to persecution. In this way, they will be refined and cleansed and made pure until the time of the end, for the appointed time is still to come.

Personally ,I believe the saints who fall to persecution are blessed. Those who are robbed, jailed and murdered during those 1260 days the two witnesses practice their authority over them who are persecuted.

The saints are murdered because of their testimony of Christ and for the word of God.

Daniel 11:33

Wise leaders will give instruction to many, but these teachers will die by fire and sword, or they will be jailed and robbed.

Revelation 20:4

I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

The two witnesses are killed because they just spent the last 1260 days killing and tormenting Muslims. And the Muslims overcome them and kill them.

Revelation 11

And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.

10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

Why do those who keep God's commandments and hold fast the testimony of Jesus  not flee into the wilderness with the woman and instead remain behind with the seven headed, ten horned serpent?

Simple short answer...

Let me address this in two parts…first…Why do those who keep God's commandments and hold fast the testimony of Jesus  not flee into the wilderness with the woman”

If one does not understand that the “man child” from verse 5 is the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” from verse 17…then the argument will be never ending because of religious human reasoning and conjecture.

If one can receive this understanding…then revelation will flow perfectly and there will be an increase in the light of the prophetic understanding of the Scriptures.

Secondly…you state…”and instead remain behind with the seven headed, ten horned serpent?” this question can be worded differently perhaps…simply because “He” is those “who keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” who was “caught up to God and His throne”…so technically they are “with God”…

So my answer to your question Shilo is...because they are at "war" with the seven headed ten horned beast...exactly as the text states.

There is more to all of this as well…

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
