Hi @Willa Just thought of an application from what we were talking about on the other thread; or at least, the possible perception of an application in the view of some ppl.

Some Christians might indeed say that tattoos might not be inherently wrong if their subject matter is benign, but that they can be a time consuming pass-time and therefore unsuitable, supposedly. (I can see what they might mean.)

On the other hand, having something tattooed for 18 year olds now seems so utterly widespread that so many Christian young ppl are each often earnestly pleased to use their chosen bit of ink as a witness tool; all the young ppl with Bible verses tattooed with whom I have talked seemed to have received them as witness tools, anyway.

It's seemingly so utterly widespread now, anyway; I saw this quote from a nurse:

Most people use them to draw attention to self, not to god.  They express self.  It is the ME generation.  

I don't see harm in drawing attention to God.  

I mostly see waitresses with them, rarely nurses or professional people.

I'm sure you are right about waitresses.

And you are maybe right about hospitals in some areas.

Ppl in other areas do seem to report their prevalence in hospitals; FYI:

Re. drawing attention to God, I reckon that this may have been the motive of your daughter and granddaughter when they went to the tattoo parlor to have their arms done with Bible quotes.

 

I guess the challenge is always - if indeed it's going to be done - to make sure that the tattoo parlor encounter and whatever ink acquisition really are God-honoring.

@Anne2 You're welcome, and it's likely that being the silent witness to the evidently widespread pursuit of a little tattooing among the most conservative of ppl today is the situation of so many ppl who would otherwise have little or nothing to say about it.

Each one of my tats have a specific reason for my getting it. They relate to something in my life that affected me more than just daily life.

So with the widespread demand for it, do you think that it would be quite good or useful if more Christians were prepared train and work as tattoo artists?
