As a newbie I am reluctant to post in the eschatology section, but:

Will Jesus's coming be the start of His millennial reign on earth? If so, will He be reigning on this present earth or on the new earth He will make?

All thoughts welcome,

Many thanks 👍

Here's one perspective, but there are others.

The second coming of Christ is a significant event in Christianity. It is believed that Jesus will return to Earth in a personal, visible, and glorious manner 1. The Bible teaches that before establishing His kingdom on Earth, Jesus will come for His Church, an event commonly referred to as the “Rapture” 1. At this time, the dead in Christ will be raised, and living Christians will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air and be with Him forever 1. After the Rapture of the Church, Christians will be brought before the judgment seat of Christ. He will reward them based on the works they have accomplished 1. The Rapture will also inaugurate a period that the Bible characterizes as the “great day of His wrath,” “the great tribulation,” and the “time of Jacob’s trouble” 1. This time of unprecedented difficulty will affect Israel and all nations. Its purpose will be to prepare Israel for her Messiah 1. At the end of the Tribulation, Jesus Christ will return with the hosts of heaven as well as the Church to establish the Messianic Kingdom on Earth 1. His Kingdom will last for a thousand years 1. After this judgment, there will be a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness is the norm. There will be a new Jerusalem and the everlasting presence of God among all the redeemed 1.

So will He reign in the new earth?

What do you think about these verses?

Zechariah 14:3-5

3 Then the Lord will go forth

And fight against those nations,

As He fights in the day of battle.

4 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,

Which faces Jerusalem on the east.

And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two,

From east to west,

Making a very large valley;

Half of the mountain shall move toward the north

And half of it toward the south.

5 Then you shall flee through My mountain valley,

For the mountain valley shall reach to Azal.

Yes, you shall flee

As you fled from the earthquake

In the days of Uzziah king of Judah.

Thus the Lord my God will come,

And all the saints with [a]You.

The reign of our Lord Jesus is everlasting. The first 1,000 years of His reign are on the earth as we know it. In Matthew 5:18 our Lord said that His law would not pass "TILL heaven and earth pass". They pass at the White Throne AFTER the 1,000 years (Rev.20). You might notice that in God's Council of Genesis 1:26-28, he commanded TWO duties for man. One was to "subdue" and the other was "reign". The 1,000 year reign lies between OUR resurrection (the Church - Rev.20:4) and the resurrection of the "rest of the dead". This is confirmed in 1st Corinthians 15:23-28. We have OUR resurrection "at His coming" (v.23). Then must follow a time of SUBDUING - the rule of the rod of iron. The last enemy of God to be subdued it death. This is at the White Throne. After all men are resurrected, God can introduce the New Earth. The word "new" in the Greek means "Renewed" or " made pristine". That is, the purging fire is applied to the surface of the earth and to all the works that have no eternal value (Ps.102:26, Heb.1:11).

That is, the earth sphere remains but just as there was no sign of anything that had happened after the flood of Noah, there will be no remembrance of the evil that beset the earth from Adam to the White Throne. From this time onward, with all men resurrected and the flesh dealt with, Christ will reign and all things are subdued.

The verses you quoted in your second posting concern the Second Coming of Jesus. He will burst through the clouds over Jerusalem and touch down, as predicted in Acts Chapter 1, on Mount Olives. You will notice that in Matthew 24:1-31 is about all things Jewish. It begins with the Temple and ends with angels collecting Israel from the "four winds" of heaven. Only Israel was scattered to the "four winds" (Jer.49:36, Ezek.37:9).

Apologies for such a delay in reply. I can follow what you're saying, your logic is sound to me but I think I need to do further study for myself (as the Bereans did lol).

I applaud that. Take your time. I do the same.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
