@believeinHim

"it should be also obvious that a tattoo on a man's arm, or a tattoo on a man's body, Is different than a tattoo on a woman's arm, or a tattoo on a woman's arm.

There are several very nice ladies with tattoos, But I just think it is different. It is just different to me."

It may be obvious to you, but do you then think that there should be separate tattoo artists and tattoo parlors for men and for women?

That's absolutely true. My husband has several tattoos and I like them. I would just love a really nice design to cover my tattoo up but am scared of making it worse.

I've had a rough year and would love something to commemorate the strength God gave me and grace he showed me through it, preferably using the quote about joy coming in the morning. I just need a guarantee it wouldn't be ugly!

@Thewhitedove

Sounds like you are a household that appreciates tattoo art.

Seems like it's so widely appreciated now. I read someplace that a Hollywood director wanted to re-create a 1950s beach scene (a time when not so many women were accustomed to becoming tattooed) and he was unable to find enough movie extras for the beach scene among young women who were not already tattooed. This was likely because it's become something that is regarded widely as desirable to do on becoming an adult.

If you do receive that Bible quote (a good one), make sure the tattoo artist spells it correctly!

@Tristen back a bit

"I have noticed that people with tattoos often have other random people approach them to ask about their tats. In the context of a faith-based tattoo, that can lead to a non-Christian opening the door to a discussion about the Gospel. I can therefore see some merit in that motive."

Since tattoos can easily become talking points, the onus is on the Christian tattooee to allow the faith based tattoo to become a talking point. Willingness to have a tattoo appointment for a faith based design is thus a logical extension of a believer's willingness to talk about his or her faith testimony to others.

A lot of Christians do seem to understand this logical extension to their willingness to testify.

@Thewhitedove It's such a family thing sometimes, isn't it? getting tattooed.

@debrakay said: "I do have one little flower tattoo on my left shoulder commemorating my very first trip to Hawaii.  .. I have one granddaughter with a small angel tattoo and one grandson with several scripture tattoos. .. He already knows I approve of his choices of tattoo's.  He had told me his plan and then when he texted the photo I told him it was beautiful.  He is reserved and quiet and I know it is his way of being a testimony to his buddies and those who might ask. "

The strong desire to be tastefully tattooed, like you @Thewhitedove have been experiencing, is often such a family-related ongoing participated series of events, isn't it?

(As debrakay confirms.)

Hi @TheBlade

You said (back a bit) :

"I still remember the very young girl with all these beautiful tattoos and I complement her on them. She then looked sad saying its best to think before you get them. She never looked ahead and how she would feel just a few years later. We can add burdens to those that have them or make them feel condemned."

I do realize what you say about having it done rashly without proper forethought and ppl thus living to regret it.

Seems also like here on the thread there are those who plan to get tattooed who are indeed giving it a great deal of thought.

Indeed, @Tristen said:

"I have noticed that people with tattoos often have other random people approach them to ask about their tats. In the context of a faith-based tattoo, that can lead to a non-Christian opening the door to a discussion about the Gospel. I can therefore see some merit in that motive."

Hi @RdJ

"Yes she didn't look like someone who had a lot of tattoos. A small tattoo wouldn't have surprised me."

I expect that since you posted this, you've seen or talked to more ppl with tattoos.

A lot of Christians do have them, sometimes faith-based.

No or maybe they hide them or I simply don't pay attention. We used to have a boss and he wasn't there and we were with a group of around 10 and someone said: Does he have a moustache or a beard or not? And just nobody knew. We saw him every day and nobody had a clue. LOL then he came join and he had this huge ring of a moustache and a beard around his mouth. It was so funny that nobody noticed it. So who knows. Maybe I have met dozens of people with a huge face tattoo, but I didn't pay attention.

I have one colleague who got a small tattoo instead of a wedding ring. She told me. That's why I know.

@RdJ Interesting; I guess it's the permanence of a wedding band tattoo that attracts the person.

Like, as if to say: This is really permanent; we don't believe in divorce..........

(Do you think so?)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
